Given Fab clearly state this in their FAQ
‘ We've noticed a legal disclaimer paragraph that some people have on their profiles. Should we have one too? What are they about? Do they do any good?
The "legal disclaimer" is pointless nonsense and all does is take up extra space on our servers. Please remove it if you have it on your profile. If you're worried about privacy please set your account to be hidden from non-registered users on your privacy page (this also hides it from search engines but may take a week or two to drop out of search) and remove the notice (and encourage others to do likewise).
Common sense advice would be NOT to put any information on your profile (here, or on any such site) that could identify you or that you don't want to become public! So for your own benefit, don't post phone numbers, real names or email / instant message addresses on your profile that people might see or "Google".
Some people may put non-identifying pics on their public profile but keep face pics private or for friends, for example.’

In short? Because they’re a bit daft.
If they actually read it or understood it, they’d know that it is legal gibberish, half of them say Facebook on them!
They see others with it, panic that if they don’t, then their identity will be stolen and so the cycle continues.
It’s also a good indicator of who doesn’t read the FAQ’s or pay attention. I use it as a kind of filter myself |

People still forward chain mail that threatens you with years of bad luck if you don't. Is it really that surprising?  It's like people who believe those things on Facebook where it tells you to copy and paste something to your status to say you don't give Facebook permission to do something. Do they really think Zuckerberg is like "damn I was going to steal all their personal information that they freely entered into my website but they pasted that thing to their status so I'd better leave them alone. My expensive lawyers are no match for that.". |

It's complete drivel, some even state "because F*c*b**k is a public traded entity" because they are too stupid to read it and too stupid to research the rights that protect them. |

I have unfriended many people on Facebook for posting this kind of shite.

That’s actually a good idea. It’s annoyed me for years to be honest but it seems to be getting worse some people have more disclaimer than profile.  |
