Yep, this is a tough question but which song, in your opinion, is the greatest of all time?

There’s no right or wrong answer but bear in mind that people are liable to judge you on your choice

Greatest of all time? Hmm ?

Well in my mind that would have to be non threatening to all and have a timeless appeal and probably wouldn’t be a pop or rock song.

For that reason I’m going to go with “rhapsody in blue” by George Gherswhin

Iceland, but Aldi is closer..

For me, its gotta be Freebird by Lynard Skynard.

However, for the greatest song of all time, i would suggest that one that has been covered by many artists and crops up regularly as samples in other songs, simply because it admired by the artists peers..

For most covered, according to t'intawebby thing, Yesterday by the Beatles has been covered a whopping 1600, by greats like Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Liberace (was anyone else surprised when he came out!) and Daffy Duck..

The most sampled song is Amen, Brother by the Winstons which has featured in tracks by Janet Jackson, the Prodigy, David Bowie and countless hip hop artists.

Undoubtedly the greatest were The Beatles but Dylan, Bowie and many others did so too.

Mood effects my choice but my most listened to song is

America- Horse with no name

But The Beatles? Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. Such great lyrics.

Love Mc Cartney’s Maybe I’m Amazed

The Small Faces Tin Soldier

Humble Pie Black Coffee

And The Fall. ‘Check the record, check the record, check the guys track record!’

These are some of my greatest.

Ha - we actually do look kinda similar .

Esther’s version is incredible - the production, the playing and her voice are all perfect.

I’m happy to delve into music more - perhaps by PM might be best if the thread gets big. Don’t want to hog the conversation. I tend not to PM guys unannounced (or women actually!) because I know it can been a bit deflating - “oh, great I’ve got a message. It must be an elfin beauty from the next town who likes my profile. Oh.....it’s Geoff, a trucker who’s bored after a night in a service station on the M4” .

I absolutely adore her version of that song!

Are we related?

Ha - we actually do look kinda similar .

Esther’s version is incredible - the production, the playing and her voice are all perfect.

I’m happy to delve into music more - perhaps by PM might be best if the thread gets big. Don’t want to hog the conversation. I tend not to PM guys unannounced (or women actually!) because I know it can been a bit deflating - “oh, great I’ve got a message. It must be an elfin beauty from the next town who likes my profile. Oh.....it’s Geoff, a trucker who’s bored after a night in a service station on the M4” ."

I’m always happy to chat about music, feel feee to PM me, I was woken to it’s too late by Carole King, then House of pain and Jump around.

What a way to start the day!
