Hey all,

Any recommendations for numbing cream at all?

I really cannot handle the pain and have left my tattoos incomplete.

Suggestions welcome, except those that recommend having a cock in my mouth to suck on as a distraction

TKTX (black) 2 hours before and wrap it with cling film.

Oh and absolutely do not have a tattoo days before or during your time of the month

I was given this by a friend to use and unfortunately felt everything. Admittedly, didn't wrap my arm, so might try again.

Don't do it! It just hurts twice as much once it wears off!

You could try Ametop they sell it in some pharmacies but you can order online. It’s a gel they use to numb before injection sites and it works for around 4 hours.

Yeah anything that includes pain. I had my eyebrows threaded once and was fine had it again on my period and was in agony. The woman said what’s going on you were fine last time and I said I don’t know, she said are you on your period and I was and she said don’t ever have anything done during your period cos your pain is heightened.

"I can handle any pain afterwards, just not at needle point!"

Same. I had quite a big one on my thigh last week and as it went on even when he was wiping the area it was hurting. I managed to get 3 tiny sections coloured in (after all the outline and shading) and I was like nah I’ll come back to have it coloured!

Plus I think as we get older our braveness goes!

I take a fluffy blanket with me and my own pillow, headphones to listen to music and I try breathing exercises, like just before he starts I’ll take a deep breath in through the nose and exhale through the mouth, that tends to help when you breath through it.

It’s annoying isn’t it cos I want so many tattoos but I don’t deal well with the pain.

I recently had lip fillers..botox and other fillers. They said I had a high pain threshold.

But..when I go back I'll be sure to avoid the time of the month

The chemist sells the numbing cream over the counter which can help if used properly beforehand and during if it gets too much for you to cope with ask for a break.

Taking some painkillers before your appointment can also help rather than waiting until after when it hurts.

And don't drink any alcohol 24 hours before as it can make some peoples pain worse if your skin bleeds during the tattoo.

I hate needles with a passion but it's doable if you can try to calm yourself before you go in to the appointment.

My kids booked my in for my 56th birthday pressie.

I've never had good lips, I really like the results. They are now quite subtle but look better.

When I was there I thought fuck it...let's get rid of the deep lines in my forehead.

He said I'd got a strong forehead. What he meant was deeply furoughed!

I am quite happy with the results.

Emma cream. Don't take aspirin or anything that thins the blood though and something to distract you while you are there

Tbh I really liked the pain sensation when I had mine done. I have a high pain threshold anyway

Botox is a piece of piss for me, my friend has put some in my forehead whilst I’ve been sat at the kitchen table having a cuppa. Lip fillers on the other hand, OUCH! I had them done once with a guy I know who does aesthetics on the side but his main job is an actual heart surgeon! He done my lips once and they didn’t hurt but I had them done again with an aesthetics nurse and they killed. When I asked him why his didn’t hurt and hers did he said it’s because most the aesthetics nurses aren’t doctors so they aren’t qualified to give the anaesthetic injection mixed with the filler like he does. Plus I think it’s something to do with the fact in his main job he actually touches peoples hearts in his hands so therefore he’s more gentle. He’s expensive though and only uses juverderm which my body seems to metabolise more quickly that retinol.

Worse thing I ever did was have tear trough injections, they looked good for 6 months but now it’s wearing off my eye bags look worse than before and I can feel the filler under my eye socket.

The guy who did me was a GP for 20yrs..

The real pain was definitely feom the lips!

Thats a shame about the eye bags.

The expense really does add up!

Well as another user said, it'll take me 20 years to finish my arm. Surely somewhere country can local anaesthetic my entire arm whilst I get it complete.

I never used cream so don’t have any knowledge of that! Emla cream sounds good tho but I used paracetamol on my last tattoo , took it before and during ( tattoo session lasted 4,5hrs) couldn’t go longer and have another one coming to finish it hopefully.

I have a bit higher resistance than most people but paracetamol definitely helped

also not recommend during or before periods , as others said it increases the pain and you become less resistant. Same with alcohol and going hungry. hope it helps

This one I have used before, it works better if you have the outline done then use it for shading
