"Leo's....
Kwik save lol...
Kwik Save used to sell cheap, plain grey trainers I and a couple of mates bought as an ironic fashion statement. Thank you for bringing that memory back. "
My first proper job was with Kwik Save
Their head office was in Prestatyn of all places
They disappeared into Somerfield
Does Somerfield still exist or are they all re-branded as Co-ops now? |

I haven't seen one in donkeys. Gateway became somerfield, they took over Kwik Save and that shop shut down then not too long after that the local Somerfield became a Morrisons. That was back in the naughties I think. |

According to Wiki, Somerfield was taken over by Co-op in 2011 and re-branded
I'm guessing as part of that re-brand some stores were closed and the properties sold to other retailers or leases ended
Co-operative group has a huge property portfolio and not just in shops |

"Virgin Megastore "
Loved spending time in the Tottenham Court Road store, sadly missed.
Our Price Records And Tapes were good stores as well, all be it a lot smaller. A bit of a soft spot for the chain, I used to visit the Bishopsgate London store, bought my first Iron Maiden vinyl single there, been a devoted fan ever since |

"Woolworths and their pick n mix"
If you want to tragic story about the Winfield Woolworth family, have a look at the life of Barbara Hutton, who inherited one third of the Woolworth fortune, but through exploitation by some of her seven husbands, her fairweather friends and other unscrupulous professional died with only £3000 to her name.
A tragic story of riches to rags. |

We had a hardware store called Dentons near us growing up ... it was just like the hardware shop from the The Two Ronnie's four candles sketch ... they all wore brown coats! And it sold green shield stamps |

Tandy, I got my first decent rc car from them when I was a kid.
Mum always used to drag us to do the weekly shop with my nanna at pioneer supermarket and nanna would always treat us to lunch in the cafe.
Ah life was much simpler back then.

East London |
We had a little Nisa in the holiday camp where we had a chalet back I the 70s.
Growing up I never saw another until my daughter moved to another pary of my town.
I thought our camp one was the only one.

Have a read about the numerous customers and staff that have burnt to death in fires on the premises, it's amazing they lasted as long as they did. |
