I’m often called a geek by my buddies. But I prefer the title nerd…
I’m a sci-fi nerd, more Star Trek, Farscape and The Lexx than the other titles.
Dare I confess, I’m also a train nerd |

"I'm definitely a geek on certain things / topics, but generally quite niche
Comedy programmes is probably as broad a canvas as I get
What type of niche?"
Certain detective programmes from down the years (especially The Sweeney) and the cars they used. I'm also a classic car nerd
A lot of classic comedy programmes I can recite huge chunks of script from memory |

More of a history and engineering geek. I don't class myself a tech geek because although I'm into electronics technology it tends to be 1980s and before that floats my boat. Hense why I was an electronics engineer in of previous career. My passion looking after legacy equipment. There's something rewarding and satisfying about pulling something apart and diagnosing a fault down to a capacitor, resistor or chip etc. I have no intrest in messing around with software. Don't ask me about the lasted Ibone and what it's apps can do, I wouldn't have a clue or be interested.

But just think, Chris Hemsworth will start looking old soon enough. Paul Rudd will look the same as he is now when he is 90.

Really rubbish with tech
I am a comic film geek, and although not read the comics (dont shoot me) I have spent alot of time researching the backgrounds of characters I like.
Sci-fi films too.
Also sort of a history geek, I love royal history and most things victorian era
If there is such thing as a horror geek, it is me.
Anything remotely horror and not just films. This can be clothing, ghost stories/tours, books, decor and ornaments etc, I love it all.
I think that covers it

Ok where to start...ok, at the beginning.
I watched Star Trek when it was on BBC1 in the 1970s.
I watched Blake's Seven, Tomorrow People, Sapphire and Steel and Dr Who.
I read Marvel before it was cool (1970s), Savage Sword of Conan got me into fantasy, I read Conan, Lord of the rings, Shannara. I've read 2000AD from prog 1 and still do.
I've read A Song of Ice and Fire, Joe Abercrombie, Mark Lawrence, Pratchett, Peter F Hamilton.
I still watch Trek, The Expanse, Marvel.
Yeah, I Am Geek. |

You'd probably be interested in my collection of 40,000 ish dc, marvel and independent comics then.
I've also been writing software since before the first x86 cpu was designed, including creating my own realtime operating systems (plural), writing graphical display libraries, doing low level ethernet packet message exchange systems, getting two computers on different floors at university to talk to each other via serial ports before ethernet was invented, designing special purpose programming languages...

One of my favourite possessions is my lego super star destroyer - at just over 4ft long its obscene. If you hunt around on aliexpress you can pick one up for around £100. Although I actually think the Ultimate Collector Series Star Destroyer is actually a bit more interesting and hope to get one soon
Now, I think I'll get back to painting my Mando and the Child diorama |

Love science, science fiction, astronomy and spaceflight, electronics, been a comic nerd since reading 2000ad, massive Marvel MCU fan, Love all the Stars (Trek, Wars and Gate) and have a growing pile of Warhammer 40K shame...

"Geek for life!
I cite my burning hatred for all things javascript as evidence...
Java not javascript"
O rly?
Are we saying that it should probably be called Java not Javascript?
or that javascript is in some bizarro universe a better language than Java?
either way - you're wrong |

Computer geek here. Started on a zx81 before moving onto bbc micro. Great machines for learning how to code and got me a career. Also build computers in my spare time. Graphic card price rises have restricted gaming builds at the mo. |

I started with a zx81 (which I’ve still got), commodore vic 20, Commodore 64, Amiga 500, NES, Atart ST, SNES, Master System, Megadrive, Mega CD, Neo Geo, and Atari Lynx. Also PS1-4, XBox, Xbox one S
I’m sure I’ve missed a few haha |

Same, never been a DC fan, find them boring. I liked the Chris Nolan Barman trilogy but then I don't think of that as DC. |

Warner Bros squandered DC as well as the TV ones
The DC animated movies however have been good. Since they haven’t been hindered. |

Been to a few Trek Cons in full Klingon uniform, head piece, beard and skin tone. Been to Starfleet Ball in Bournemouth few times, another in Manchester and couple in Glasgow (Scottish Kligons know How to throw a party).
At one if the Glasgow cons a group of Klingons put Armin Shimmerman (Quark) in one of those big trollies hotels us3 for moving laundry around and ransomed him back to the con with money going to charity. Shimmerman took it in good spirit and gave some money himself. |
