You know you're waiting for ages for the right one and then all of a sudden two come along.
Of course I'm not talking about buses, or men on here (just one would be good!), I'm talking about job offers.
Things to take into consideration are:
Journey time
Working environment
Prospects
Pay
Oh, and one would be working with my ex boss who I had a massive crush on
Any thing I've missed? Any advice? |

Oh I remember your posts about your ex boss previously! That should definitely be top consideration.
I'd also look at how steady a company is - how long has it been going, are they in an industry that might be a bit of a fairweather one, does the company have a good reputation for employee satisfaction. |

What has the potential for advancement and how long will it take to achieve it.
If it's dead end role expenses like traveling need to be taken into consideration.
Never travel more than 45 minutes in one direction because an 8 hour shift then becomes 10 maybe 11 with traffic.

I would say out of all those prospects is the most important thing and then line manager, a bad line manager can set you back years, less important at your/our age when you don’t need coaching so much but a great line manager will have your back and normally take you when they leave. Good teams follow good managers not companies.
I’ve taken pay cuts and even done a 200 mile round trip to Cambridge to connect with the right clients and experience, if it’s a bad commute you should be able to work from home 1-2 days? Pay and bonus is always negotiable once you're in and do your stuff....You have to work this year for next years pay

Both have invested massively. Both fairweather I guess but that's part of the industry I'm in. However both businesses have branched out so it's not a huge issue. In fact the pandemic has been pretty good for our sector.
I know a couple of people at the newer company who both enjoy it. I don't know anyone at the other place but it sounds like they're a good team and are happy. Some have been there from the beginning, which is always a good sign.
They are both independents as apprised to corporate, so that's a big change for me.
As for my ex boss I'll have to tell him I don't flirt anymore!

I've always stayed where I am as it's been convenient....3 kids, say no more. But now they're older being on the doorstep is not so much of an issue. It takes me 2 mins to drive to work!! These 2 new jobs are about 25 each. |

God, yes that is so true! My ex boss is absolutely fantastic actually and has taken this place to the next level. But the other one is right up there as well!
Not able to work from home, and I'm not sure about a bonus. It's retail based so I very much doubt that. Would it be rude to ask? |

One that I don't think has been mentioned amongst the very good points above - comes under "Pay" to an extent but do either pay bonuses and if so do they meet target year on year?
Do either offer healthcare/dental care and if so does it cover just you or your family also?
What are the pension schemes like?
Are you able to flex any benefits such as healthcare/pension etc? |
