At grammar but purposely and purposefully?
Is it
they did that purposely
Or
They did that purposefully
I think the first one but someone said the second one and now I’m not sure.
What would you say? |

"Off the top of my head I’d say purposely is “on purpose” and purposefully is “with purpose”."
I would say this is correct.
Also, thank you for making me repeat the words "purposely" and "purposefully" over and over in my head |

You went forth, purposefully, to seek the opinion of others by purposely disguising the title of your thread.
I hope that helped make clear my stance in this matter. |

I like it!
I’m not daft I knew I’d get more people in with that title rather than a grammar title! |

You were certainly purposely purposeful in doing that. |

"But american grammar and proper British can be so different.
Yes that is so true!
When you mention bums I think vagrants. I snicker."
Haha. I’ve had a lot of laughs with an American friend of mine over some of the words they say and the way they say them! And vice versa |

"For me the have different meanings
Purposely = on purpose or deliberately
Purposefully = with purpose or resolve "
So if someone did something on purpose, say to annoy you. Purposely then? not purposefully? |

So is a lowdown bum , a tramp with no legs? "
Pretty much a vagrant
Bum = ass or booty.
Knickers = panties but I have to admit knickers sound more eloquent.
So many euphoniums. |

"Off the top of my head I’d say purposely is “on purpose” and purposefully is “with purpose”."
Correct. The first is ‘doing it intentionally’ the second is a descriptive or adjective. ‘Doing something with purpose’, like walking or driving for example
