Michael Jackson and Madonna had the crowns and quite rightly too, but in todays music industry has anyone else been close to take the crown or has this kind of music royalty long gone?

Is she still releasing music? sorry for the silly question but don’t listen to radio so wouldn’t know what’s released these days.

No one takes it from MJ or Madonna. If there was a female comes close i would say Beyonce but that's not even a close 2nd tbh. As for a male.......no one.

Wales/ All over UK

Current artists I’d probably say Beyoncé or Swifty for Queen...

King is more difficult as I can’t think of any worldwide solo male pop act

Prince was always better than Jackson. Jackson was an okay dancer with an okayish voice which he ruined with those ridiculous vocal tics. Lee Francis' impersonation wasnt far off the mark. Madonna was a good pop singer who surrounded herself with people blowing smoke up her arse and ended up thinking she was some sort of serious artist. She isnt. Shes never done anything original in her whole career, but people just call it "being influenced". Influence is fine but she just copied! There are far better singers than Madonna out there. Most of them are playing in Labour and Working Mens clubs up and down the country.

I think Madonna reinventing herself for almost every album release was her thing, she influenced a generation with her look during the early 80s, Jacko kinda did the same, the difference (surgery included) between his look from Thriller to Bad was on another level, the Thriller video being an epic mini movie that was an instant hit across the globe too, it’s still one of the best music videos around i think anyway.

Adele is awesome but i don’t think she’s had the global impact of Madonna, as for a male solo artist, i’m still struggling to think of someone from the last decade.
