A band called The Servers covered Madness' Lovestruck a few years back and it worked really well..sounded a bit like the Foos..
..talking of the Foos, their live cover of Never Gonna Give You Up with Rick Astley on vocals is brilliant

I think it works because there's melodical similarities between it and Smells Like Teen Spirit...which I seem to recall is partly how the Foos stumbled into covering it |

Skyclad doing Lizzy's Emerald is pretty good.
So fucking what 'by' Metallica
Fantomas doing Rosemary's Baby(yeah. It's a soundtrack. I dont care:it's Mike Patton).
And more punk rock but China Drum doing Wuthering Heights
Oh. And anything by Hayseed Dixie.. (great banjo solos on Back in Black) |

Live and let die - G n R
Oh and Darlin Nikki by the foo fighters.
Maybe Easy by Faith no more
I also want to say Dear Prudence by Siouxsie but that's more Goth.
Tainted Love by Marilyn Mason
Again, more Goth than metal |

"Have any of them covered 4'33" by Hahn Cage? That would be my favourite metal song."
Though not strictly metal, I think Nirvana released an uncredited version on the cd of Nevermind, between somethings in the way and endless nameless. |

"Metallica whiskey in a jar
No way better than the original though!
Anthrax - Got the Time, original was joe Jackson
"
Anthrax's cover of 'Antisocial' is fun too. It was originally by a French band called Trust, which at various times featured Iron Maiden drummers Clive Burr and Nicko McBrain in its line-ups.

"Iron Maiden - Women in Uniform. A cover of a Skyhooks song."
If I had to pick a Maiden cover, I'd go for 'Reach Out', which was originally peformed by Nicko McBrain and Adrian Smith's side project The Entire Population of Hackney. |

Disturbed - Sound of Silence.
Personally think they've done better covers but I worked in a record store when they performed it on X factor. The number of women of my parents' generation who came in wanting to dip into their back catalogue was freaking hilarious. |

For me has to be Alestorm's cover of Hangover! Either that or Sabaton's In the Army now, though I'm bias since I love both the bands. Bad wolves cover of zombie is fantastic too!
There are so many to choose from it's hard to say them all
Also another vouch for the stuff from frog leap studios here |

"5 finger death punch bad company, fucking amazing cover
Have to agree to this one and Disturbed sound of silence"
I would add ffdp cover of Blue on Black. Absolutely amazing. Last band I managed to see live before Covid. Supported by Bad Wolves and they played Zombie! And Megadeth were great, but Dave Mustane was definitely struggling with his voice after the cancer. |

I was there too! Wanted to see Megadeth since 1992, so that was very exciting for me! I thought he did ok once he’d warmed up, but I suppose it’s only to be expected that he wasn’t 100%. I was too excited to let it bother me though!
Ahem. Cover versions. Yes. A lot of the ones I like have been mentioned, like Halestorm’s “Bad Romance” and Marilyn Manson’s “Tainted Love”, but I’ll add Therion’s “Summernight City” as I don’t think it’s been mentioned. |

"Devil went down to Georgia has been covered by Nickelback and it's a damn good effort"
Try it by Jerry Reed
The guitar playing is almost fluid!!
He wrote 'A Thing Called Love' (as covered by Johnny Cash & 'Guitar Man'
(covered by Presley, and played guitar on that) |
