I used to have quite a lot of text on my fab profile, probably about 3 scrolls worth, now I have reduced the content to just a bare minimum of 1 page to give a little taste of my interests.
I am still unsure if this is enough though?
What are the forumites feelings about length of a fab profile text ?
Are short profiles better as they allow people to message you with more questions?
Crack on and discuss. |

"I've always kept mine to one page, no scrolling as think it's more likely to be read "
Well I shall be testing your theory now that mine is of onlh 1 page in length! |

It arguably doesn't matter either way - the FAF brigade will have ignore it and message anyway, and those that are properly interested will read it and still not find out enough to discover that they're not compatible with you after all.
For the record, I do read profiles and mine is like my forum answers - waaaaaay too long |

I have an attention span, so I have no problem reading a *reasonably* lengthy profile text. That said, if the profile is of Tolstoy proportions, I do begin to lose the will. Especially, if the text is cluttered with three paragraphs of legal warnings and has a complex feel to it. If it requires more than three flicks of the thumb to scroll, I tend to feel it's more like doing work. That said, it saves sending out the mandatory Myers–Briggs evaluation sheet prior to the first social though. |

As long as the profile tells me what said person or people are looking for and what they have to offer the length doesn’t bother me.
For me a good profile has points that you can use to initiate a conversation regardless of its length |

Personally, I enjoy a long profile. I like to know about a person before I get in touch. It lets me know if we have common interests and whether or not we're compatible.
And having a long profile works well as a filter. If someone hasn't bothered to read it, I can tell, and then I know to avoid meeting them =) |

In all honesty, there is such a thing as too long but it’s all relative.
If the people that you’re trying to attract are those that want to know about you, then a longer profile text will be your answer, if you’re looking for something else, then your profile text should reflect that.
If it’s about getting people to read it, there will always be those that skip reading, in which case then it’s a moot point.
In a long and roundabout way, it’s what you think best fits you. Mine is quite long but I think it works well for me, so I’m sticking with it. That’s the key point in my opinion. |

I think more important than long or short is interesting. Does it read well? Does it captivate?
If it can do this within a short scroll I find it ideal. Not because I have a short attention span, but some do and are put off by long text.
Think I found the sweet spot with mine |

"I prefer short and to the point, but am happy to read a long one if it's interesting...and the key word there is interesting, not ranty or moany, and bonus points if it makes me laugh. "
I agree with this - one profile blends into another after a while especially if it's just a list of rants in CAPS LOCK and do nots etc .. it makes my eyes glaze over pretty quickly.

Unlike most men I'm happy with my length.
Oh You mean profile.
Seriously though I think I put enough in to put most people off, leaving those with a sense of adventure something to work with.
I prefer to read a few paragraphs to decide whether it is worth me messaging. A (perceived) lack of effort on a profile is offputting for me. |

I first view the age filter if I'm within boundrie I'll then start at the top and work my way down to preference,s if I see (not looking for guys) there's no point going further. Just move on . |

There's rarely a need to read an entire profile from top to bottom because quite quickly you'll see things which will put you off straightaway e.g. age, distance abiltiy to accommodate etc. On those fewer occasions when that doesn't happen then by definition the profile is still potentially of interest to you and if that's the case then it's worth reading to find out more unless you have a very limited attention span.
It's really not that arduous is it.

Ours isn’t overly long but not short. Tbh. If there’s very little information on profiles we just bin them. Would rather read someone’s profile than see. Fill in later or a fucket list. Let’s face it. Unless it’s war and peace. They only take a couple of minutes to read
