Back in the 80s I have. This is a return to the UK. Their burgers were nice if I remember correctly. I lean more towards vegetarian diet these days. Rebel Whopper these days

Nothing wrong with Wimpy’s, they made the best burger I ever tasted, plus it’s served on China plates.

Apologies, I should have quoted OP. Wimpy’s was good-ish from what I recall.

Goodish, I’m shocked, it was next level. Unless, I’m seeing things through rose tinted glasses, where the summers were endless and there was an optimism on the streets.

Well my town is going all fancy, we are having our first McDonald's built, about time Oswestry was dragged into the 21st Century. We'll be having Internet next and moving away from candle power

I was the kid that didn’t get to go to Maccy Ds until I was 11. I lived a sheltered life

Pretty sure the first wimpy I went to I was on a motorway services.

It was wild

Yes Ive ate at Wendy's.

They have made improvements over the years and now have overtaken burger king in the states and are only second to big Mac.

The one opening in reading will be interesting to see how much business they do.

Also Popeye's are starting to open up here and I do like their chicken

On a mooch

Wimpy was a huge treat in the early 80s, fond memories and my final visit, where the burger was allowed to be missed, so I could have a knickerbocker glory that I’d had my eyes on for a couple of years.

Wendy’s I have good memories of in the late 80s, made to order, a burger that actually tasted like beef, will be interesting if still the same

I lived in the states for 17 years and Wendys was my last favourite. What i would love to see come here is Panera. They do excellent soups, salads and sandwiches with some really healthy options. Not so healthy but delicious were their bagels. Cinnamon crunch. Mmmm.

That and Chipoltle which is fast mexican but again good - nothing like Taco Hell.

Independents not chains. All those US chains is like eating styrofoam . Convenient but you can’t say you walk away feelin good about yourself.

Ermmm.... Is Wendy burger the same as Wimpys?

The Op is about Wendy's... Not The home of the hamburger.

They'll have to go some to beat 5 guys imo.

Just what we need. More fast food outlets.

I'm not familiar with panera... But tend to agree... If there was a way to make more healthy, less calorific fast food appealing...that would be a good start

And there was nothing wrong with a man dressing up as Mr Wimpy and hanging round with kids all afternoon.

Different times. And some would say better.

Leeds + Newcastle

The breakfasts are decent and I used to love trips to London as I'd always get a bowl of their chilli cos we didn't have one in Newcastle.

I hope they keep the more American lilt to the menu instead of making it more suitable for England.

Sometimes you just need biscuits and gravy at midnight

Heard on the news they hope to provide 12,000 jobs, so sounds good to me - all I seem to hear is such-and-such closing down these days.

A long time ago, in Europe. I can't honestly remember what I thought. I was a tweenie so probably estatic to be allowed a burger.

I'd like to try one if one opens near me though.

couple, us we him her.

I remember Wendy's burgers being really thin and not nice at all.

Sad to see more burger chains opening up but I guess it's going to create more jobs.

Which is alot more than these small independent "kebab, burger" places who tend to be family run employing family.

Out of the 3 main ones in US Macs, BK n Wendy's......Wendy's was/is my go to chain if and when I fancy any junk food. I'll be happy to see it return for an occasional visit.

Wendy seagulls follow the trawler, it is because they think that sardines will be thrown into the sea.

Thank you.

Years ago my kids won vouchers for our local Wendys.

I thought it was much better than Mcdonalds and similar to Burger King, at the time.

Wendy's reminds me of living in London in the 80's and seeing their cafes for the first time, very nostalgic. Gives me a warm feeling to see they are coming back. Can't wait to go in one again

It’s the litter that some of the takeaway customers through all over the countryside that’s the most annoying, folks should have to take their own cups and packaging in to get takeaways. Same applies to all such outlets, environment and climate suffer from all of them.

Burgers generally are wholly overrated. Plus takeaway ones are never plump like the pictures and pub ones you’d have to be a horse to take a bite out of it!
