Makes me think of those Shield soap bars in the olden days when I was young.
I've read good things about flowery ones but never tried them due to the above. |

I've used a shampoo bar from Lush - it was rubbish
It made my hair feel dry and was a faff applying it and getting the hair off the bar it's easier to just have shampoo in a bottle |

This.
Mine was also from Lush. Never again. |

Yeah I haven't heard great things about them. Heard they dry your hair out and are difficult to get a good lather going etc.
Probably best off looking for a store where you can refill bottles if you're looking at reducing waste. |

Also considered these but given the above answers I will pass.
I already pay a fortune for shampoo and conditioner because my hair is bleach dried, so dont need something that will dry it more.
I buy shampoos with keratin in, they are great |

Nearer than you think |
I use shampoo bars, but find the conditioners aren't as good. Glad to have ditched one lot of plastic bottles, though.
Recommendations? I'm a brand tart... I buy whatever is on offer, but agree that Lush bars are not great. |

I'm all for ditching bottles. That in itself would be enough for me to try them |

Waste of time and money in my opinion.
Iv tried nubby and ultimate blends and not easy to apply and the affects where no different than normal shampoo.
Won't bother with them anymore. |

I can’t wait for shampoo bars to open. Mine’s a pint of Imperial Leather. It’s great because when you take a dump the next day after a night out, it cleans the toilet for you as well. |

"Explain to me what this is and does"
I'm tempted to tell you it's a bar where people go to try various shampoo that's arranged in optics. But it's not. Boringly it's shampoo made into a bar like soap |

I've read glowing reviews but I don't trust them. I'm going to stick with bottles for now I think |

Thanks all.
I'm sticking with traditional shampoo for the time being. None of the above fills me with confidence.
My reason for wanting to try them is that I struggle to get shampoo to the roots of my hair and scalp and I thought a bar might be more effective.
I'm not a fan of Lush anyway with the exception of their Angels on Bare Skin cleanser. |

i tend to just buy the really big bottles of shampoo and then it lasts ages and which has reduced my plastic use , i would buy it from refillable pouches if they would start doing that too (i know some conditioners could be a bit thick for that to be practical but i already decant into nice pump bottles that i got to match my bathroom so would work for me)
i dont think i could use the shampoo bars
not even keen on a normal soap bar for my body or my hands |

what about trying one of those shower scalp massage brushes? i use mine when my shampoo is in as it helps with my psoriasis a little but i would say they get it spread right in about the scalp and roots and also stimulate blood flow a bit apparently |

I used to have one of those. That's a good idea. My hair's quite fine in texture but there's a lot of it ifyswim and I sometimes feel I haven't washed it properly |
