My liverpool accent that is, despite living in south liverpool all my life the accent is no longer recognisable, this is down to the mrs and the job i’ve done over the years, have you lost your local accent because you’ve not been around those native to your city long enough?

Yep. When people say they have no accent or they've lost one. No, it's just milder.

20 plus years living in England and I had a weird northern Irish / London twang. Back living in Northern Ireland and my accent is back as thick as ever. I still work in England and my boss keeps teasing he needs an interpreter for me.

Never lost my accent and I would hate too.

Newcastle

I have a strange blended accent as I have lived in the North for 20 years now. When I go back down south my accent definitely changes but also I really notice the southern accents and they grate on me now.

Chams or Socials

We live slap bang in middle of the Midlands - Stoke to the north, Wolverhampton to the south yet we appear accentless

Yes, I've lost the accent from my younger years. This is mainly due to my work. But apparently at times my accent can seem stronger/broader.

Not really, I’ve lived and worked all over the world and have had to temper my brogue but when I’m relaxed or at home you’ll be in no doubt that I’m a ‘Weegie!

I don't have an accent, the local accent where I'm from is strong, but think years of working customer services has just given me a posh soft phone voice

In the middle

I’m in the middle of the Midlands, people from Brum say I sound like I’m from Derby, people more north say I sound like I’m from Brum others think I sound right posh but I think that’s just my office voice

Everyone says this to me here too because I'm originally from south London so compared to locals I don't sound scouse at all but people from outside of Liverpool can often pick up a hint of scouse.

I had a soft dales accent as a kid, but then I was sent to high school in Harrogate. Now I get accused of being a posho. I love regional accents.

You have a glorious voice but not a posho (don't listen to those people, they don't know posho accents).

Thank you Meli, I don't think I'm a posho either.

My accent is that broad that even Devonian’s who have never left the county don’t know what the fuck I’m talking about. They just usually say ‘Haha, get don bay!’ and walk away.

Yours isn't that broad! Although I do love the way you say 'basket', it's more like 'baaahsket'.

When I buy something on Amazon I press the ‘ADDS TO BAAAHSKET’ button.
