I've signed up to an 8 week bootcamp and I'm feeling very nervous and apprehensive about it. I do go to a local fitness centre but this is somewhere totally new. I'm sure I will be absolutely fine but I'm worried I won't be able to do half the things that other people can, and that I end up looking like a fool and feeling like a failure.

I have more confidence for walking into a swingers club and having sex with strangers

How do you find confidence when you're feeling anxious?

If someone could do everything in the boot camp easily, they wouldn’t need it. Everyone will struggle with something, probably more than one thing, even if it may not look like it.

Use the nerves and anxiety for your advantage , they are feelings created by your brain to keep you in your comfort zone , safe from any change , your brain doesn’t like change so likes to hold you back by creating feeling of anxiety.

You don’t want to be held back you want change and challenge so over rule your brain , there is no failure only fear of failure , what we think is failure is us learning and learning is good .... bring it on and enjoy yourself

Doesn’t matter how fit you are, you will be doing a very different type of training to you are use too, so everyone will struggle!

They should also be good coaches and will know when someone is struggling.

The stations should also have varied levels depending on fitness/ability levels.

Tell yourself you can do it know your strengths. Get into that positive mindset... reassure yourself what’s the worst that can happen.. It is hard to beat a person that never gives up!

It is totally normal to feel like this when we push ourselves. Remember the others at the boot camp will probably be in a similar position... the fitness instructors will definitely be there to help

I hope you have a great time! x

From experience, the last place you ever get judged is in any kind of exercise or yoga class, don’t be nervous, just do the best that you can do, like everyone else who’s doing it with you. I wouldn’t be worrying about what anyone is thinking of my efforts, everyone will ben concentrating on their own fitness journey to worry or think about anyone else who’s there.

if you find this bootcamp doesn’t work for you don’t beat yourself up about that either or let if put you off training

i eventually tried again 1 on 1 with a trainer and the improvement i saw in myself was quite unbelievable to me

geoup exercise isn’t the perfect fit for everyone , for some of us its better to compare ourselves to where we were a month ago rather than compare ourselves to the person next to us in class

When it comes to fitness you can never fail only inprove

One thing that’s always stuck with me is when you walk in to a gym setting leve ego at the door it’s no good

No one has anything to prove and trying to ego lift or ego train just to keep up with someone is how you get hurt

Any good trainer will tell you this it’s all about your pace your personal gains no one else’s

Block everyone else out, you're they for your own goals, always give a 100% and the rest will all fall into place.

Haha,it is crazy how you can do that in a swingers club, but get anxious at a bootcamp....you'll be fine.

How do you find confidence when you're feeling anxious?

Mrs

It is everyone's first time once. Try your best and u will be respected, in my experience people are friendly and u will enjoy it.

honestly the last gym i joined which had group pt i felt exactly as you did and subsequently didnt continue after my trial month but now looking back it was actually exactly as this poster describes - people were very supportive and it was me beating myself up for being the slowest or holding back whoever i got paired with

i genuinely dont think they cared, other than to see me do well and improve

so my only advice is be kind to yourself and try banish any negativity from your mind as it will likely just bd your own head playing tricks on you

Most gyms are like that.

I don't think I've ever been to one where they look down at people.

Everyone has to start somewhere.

Thankfully I'm not a total beginner at exercise, I've been doing it for 2 years on and off, but I'm just starting somewhere new. I will feel like a beginner though.

You will be sound

Most people are too busy focusing on themselves

Good luck

"

Thank you for your encouragement

"I've signed up to an 8 week bootcamp and I'm feeling very nervous and apprehensive about it.

Positive mental attitude is so important plus look at what you’ve achieved so far - you know you can do it again and again!!

If you think you can you can but if you think you can’t, you’re right!!

If the class isn’t supportive, try a different one - get one that works for you!!

I've been to bootcamp 3 times, incl last night in torrential rain, really pleased with myself how much I am doing. I'm not as unfit as I thought I was
