Who eats 3 meals a day?

Jump to: Newest in thread

East London

Apart from my last holiday which was all inclusive, I've only ever eaten 2 meals a day.

My first meal is usually between 10am and 12pm, then evening meal is between 3.30pm and 5pm.

Then it's chocolate time.

3 meals would be hard going for me.

I used to be similar but drank tea until it came out of my eyeballs.

I did manage one meal a day though.

I really struggle to eat 1st thing so if working from home I don’t really eat until @1pm.

When in the office 2 days a week I seem to get the munchies so have a pot of porridge @10am, then a sandwich or soup @1pm. We eat later than we should as T doesn’t get home until 7pm(ish) on a good day

T has a protein shake & cup of tea before leaving the house. I have no idea what he eats during the day - probably a sandwich & more protein with copious mugs of tea.

Same here. (Mrs J) Mr J needs 3 a day as he’s a hard manual job. When on holiday we both only do 2 a day regardless of all inclusive or not.

Sweets are convenient. I drink Lucozade so I can move around in the morning; which is really, really, really bad.

Well i might have toast +marmalade, or crumpets +butter, or porridge +agave if I'm having breakfast

Then I'll have biscuit

Then lunch ... Maybe a (large) sandwich, or hummus +lots of different salads, or homemade soup with a baked sourdough batton

Then sweets or chocolate .. Or more biscuits.. If i have tortilla chips in the house they have to be eaten too

I was having a fruit smoothie, but they've gone by the wayside

Then tea... Lasagne +chips, beans on toast, risotto, or pie + roasties..

... Tonight I'm making arancini on shredded leek + mushroom with roasted red pepper sauce +peashoots

2 at the most. Lunch is just a sandwich or a small pot of leftovers.

And tea is a proper meal. I use my slow cooker a lot.

I rarely eat breakfast but will grab a banana and an apple on my way out.

Snacks I will have natural yogurt mixed in with muesli.

Despite all my postings about junk food on the fora I rarely eat it

Once a day normally depending on what you regard as a meal.

Sometimes I snack all day (usually around period) and other times I go 2 or 3 days before I realise I've not eaten anything in that time.

Most days ill probably eat stuff bigger than a snack 4 times.

Morning about 5:30 porridge/toast/cereal with a bone broth

11ish depends on whats local to work or what i made for lunch

2/3 most likely a tesco meal deal

7ish evening dinner.

If i miss the 11 or 2ish good ill have dinner earlier and then something else abit later in the evening.

I don't really drink fizzy drinks (I don't drink enough water either to be fair) but do snack on sweets a bit. I really really struggle to eat if I'm not hungry!

I started with Hello Fresh a few months ago and since then I've been eating miles better, healthier meals in the evening and also learned a few new bits in the kitchen too.

"Most days ill probably eat stuff bigger than a snack 4 times.

What's bone broth?"

Its made by boiling bones and joints from meat, which takes out all the nutrients, it helps with your immune and digestive systems, sleep, joint movements and various other things.

Eat three meals a day but small portions and snack on fruit, seeds and nuts in between.

This diet plus, running and cycling keeps me fit and health with my weight staying between 11 3/4 and 12 stone.

"I don't understand what people are eating if they just have one or 2 meals a day - are you drinking fizzy drinks and eating snacks like chocolate and crisps etc?"

I know a few people who eat once a day.

The 3 square concept is born out of bullshit, there’s nothing wrong “filling the tank” on an evening and then running all day on very little food intake, it’s how human biology works (depending on ethnology and certain other factors) there’s even a whole energy system in the body for just such instances of long fasting periods where food is scarce.

I try not to snack, I do drink a lot of coffee though.

That's why you have a lovely slim figure - I mean the bigger people

Surely it's calories in and calories out.

I put loads of weight on and now maintain it with 2 meals, one usually healthy the other could be Marmite on toast or a sandwich, and chocolate and Lucozade.

"

You eat like a sparrow woman - you should be a size 8

Bin off the Lucozade though that's about 500 cals a pint

My poison is wine - which is the same calories as lucozade

I eat breakfast - usually 2 slices of toast with marmite. Lunch - a salad or small roll. Tea - depends on what I feel like jacket potato, beans on toast. I try to eat 5 portions of fruit & veg, I find it a struggle. I've cut out sweet things as my blood sugars were sky high. Wine is my downfall but, , I'm down to 1 a week from 1 a night. I feel fitter. Ms

Coffee and or cherry pepsi max.

Don't snack much at all unless I'm on the blob, but todays food was a bag of nachos and a pot of salsa dip.

I'm on the blob but in loads of pain which is knocking me a bit sicky

I'm massively unhealthy, I cannot remember the last time I felt energised and I'm pretty sure a blood test would show fuck all but sugar.

I'm even worse when I'm at work, sugar and carbs is about it. That was leading up to my breakdown and when they did a blood test they said there was little wonder without the psyche stuff that I was struggling. I was iron and vitamin deficient.

I drink two cans of full fat in work (Mon to Thursday) and probably have a packet of crisps when I get home or a peanut butter sarnie. Then I have tea. It’s usually a cooked tea involving mash potatoe.

I do have a few Cappuccino (sachets) as sometimes tea makes me feel a bit queasy. Also drink sparkling water. Have gone off chocolate so rarely eat it. Sweets aren’t really my thing, rarely drink these days. I do have a biscuit if we have some in, but that’s not a regular occurrence.

I think my metabolism is slightly fucked up from constant dieting in my teens and when I was 27 I lost 7 stone through mostly eating bran flakes instead of balanced meals. Put it all back on though.

My portion sizes are also big because by the time I have my evening meal I’m peckish.

Oh I’m sorry! My mistake.

In that case it’s not “so little food” there’s very few reasons why anyone would gain weight while in a calorie deficit. Couple of genetic predispositions in very rare cases but generally they’re eating more than they burn and just don’t realise.

I used to work with a woman who would swear blind she was on a diet and exercising and never going over her calories and yet would still eat 6-8 bags of crisps a day at work along with various “treats”

Absolutely. When I kicked the abusive ex out I dropped 4 clothes sizes in a year, in this lockdown I've gone from being middle of the healthy weight for my height (even though I wasn't eating healthy at all) to overweight again. It's only a stone I've put on, but I feel shit about it. I'm scared to try losing it again in case I fail and am counting on it dropping back off when I go back to work. I've literally sat on my arse since November.

It was my mates funeral on Thursday and I wasn't stood that long really, maybe an hour or so and my back was so achey. Going back to work is gonna be brutal. Painkillers and baggy shoes to allow for the swelling will be top of my list.

So true - when I calorie count properly - I lose weight.

Calories in vs calories out.

I can't do it

I agree with you and think a lot of people are in denial about how much they really eat.

If I honestly weigh food out and count everything that goes in my mouth I eat far too many calories - it really is simple maths.

But it's psychological and I can't fight it anymore.

Northampton Somewhere

I rarely have 3 meals a day, I usually skip lunch when I'm working. I finish at 2.30 and get the kids from school straight after so have usually forgotten by the time I get home.

So breakfast is a bowl of blueberry wheats and coffee. Break at work will be a piece of fruit, yogurt and a coffee, very occasionally a ham roll. Will have a proper made from scratch meal in the evening. Coffee in between, maybe a bag of crisps (frazzles usually), nuts and a biscuit.

The amount some people eat in 30 mins at work is quite amazing. Sometimes they get a take away and will still have a big meal at night.

Which it is.

We're biological machines that need fuel to work.

Unfortunately, we store the fuel we don't use, and get fat.

But, I do worry about the future as I'm carrying way too much fat.

Same here Jojo, although I decided to tackle it."

I have a lot going on in my life at the moment and I'm exhausted most days. I cook the food and I'm out of the house ,so don't always eat it.

I end up eating a wagon wheel with Lucozade while I rest on the sofa.

By dinner do you mean lunch, and tea is dinner?

Yep, three per day; very rare for me to miss a meal. It only happens if I’m so busy I don’t get chance or if I’m still full from a previous meal.

3 meals a day here and a small snack or 2 as well. I tend to eat between 10:00am and 6:00pm and breakfast and lunch are light. I hate feeling too full.

Hampshire/Dorset

I have coffee and a cereal bar around 10am.

Might have a snack or lunch about 2 ish, and later than that and then that's usually it for the day.

Then maybe some sort of dinner at about 6.

Then chocolate.

Never 3 proper meals.

I don't have much of an appetite.

I eat little and often, 5 times a day.

7am, 9am, 11am 1pm 3pm then a main meal 7pm never really have carbs before bed and dont really snack. I have a addictive personality so if i have chocolate in a evening i tend to fall into a habit and do it every night then comes the weight gain

I do this but not in that order; I breakfast like a queen, lunch (dinner) like a pauper and dinner (tea) like a king - but I do do big portions so all my meals are quite small - I do snack throughout the day though.
