Yup. Mine is a constant whistle. Sometimes I think I will actually lose my mind. There are a couple of herbal remedies I use that actually ease it a little ginko biloba is one. But it’s still pretty bad. Fingers crossed one day they will find a cure.

"Any long term sufferers of tinnitus here, I'm about 20 years in both ears, can be a nuisance but for ever hopeful of cure "
Hearing aids cured mine but apparently they don't work for everyone. Worth a try though. Got them through NHS. |

Diagnosed with it about 2 years ago but had the symptoms for a while. My instinct for the cause was that I've been in bands since the mid 80s many years as the drummer stuck at the back with the guitar and bass amps but I was told it was to do with water, this made sense as I've been a watersports enthusiast for about 30 years too, something to do with calcium damaging the sensitive parts. |

"It’s because we are out of sync with Universal frequencies. The ringing in our ears is an alarm to wake up.
Yeh. That’s exactly what it is
J "
Vibrational frequency is an important part of our evolution. As we evolve we vibrate at new frequencies. All is energy and vibration. The language of the cosmos is vibration. Ringing in the ears can be due to a medical condition and should be checked out by a GP, however if there is no medical explanation we need to recognise there are more things in the Cosmos than is contained in our current understanding and inquire more deeply. |

17 years and counting... too many loud gigs. I have 4 different frequencies. Going through a good patch right now and dealing with it well, but the relapses are tough to get through, last one took 2 years. I used custom earplugs for a long time to prevent further damage, but it doesn’t always help the anxiety of making it worse, and the last relapse took so long to semi habituate I promised myself no more gigs or nightclubs. |

I remember having it as far back as being a child. It's just normal to me now.
I've seen a leading specialist but there's nothing they can do for me.
I do take a homeopathic remedy when it bothers me. It takes a while to work but it does eventually go and stays gone for a good long while.

Left ear for about 30 years, right ear just starting to join in.
Constant high pitched tone.
Tried most things, will probably end up with hearing aids.
Mainly damage from firing guns a lot but added to by raves.

I have had this for 2 years, and lost a fair amount of hearing worse in the left hand ear. Stress and quite times are worst for me found drawing and music help. Just putting a claim in for no protection in my workplace won't get better but employers need to be educated too.(Mr) |

Had it since my thirties. Mine doesn't relate to a particular ear, it is somewhere in the middle.
Haven't noticed it for a while back but became aware of it again as soon as I read this thread. As it is a single frequency I can mentally notch it out when thinking about other things.
The really odd thing is that I estimate the frequency to be about 16KHz. near enough the same as the 625 line TV whistle which I stopped hearing years ago. My brain can hear a frequency which my ears can't.
Did a lot of headphone wearing in my time, some (Airlite 62)with powerful transducers for noisy environments but I'm now interested in the comment

About the time mine started, I had been doing a lot of canoe rolling practice in swimming baths. Now I wonder if that was connected. Most of my other water sports have been in the sea where I have no idea of the calcium level. However, swimming baths in the London area may have had a high calcium content if they didn't have water softeners in line. |

"Mine is a high-pitched whistle.
Haven't been to see anyone about it. Doubt they would do anything anyway. "
Similar symptom and remedy here. Best they came up with was Betahistine, which I haven't bothered taking for years. It might have made a slight difference. Just looked it up and it 'improves blood flow to the middle ear'. Interested to note a link with dizziness.
I often had balance problems after long flights and got very queasy lying on beaches with my eyes closed. I realised then that I was relying on visual balance cues and not on normal mechanisms in the ear.
I wonder if other tinnitus sufferers are suffering balance problems. Test by standing with eyes closed.
If it is any consolation, it seems to be less noticeable in old age (or was until I started reading about it here)! |

I have had it for about 40 years, being around noisy racing cars for a number of years appeared to trigger it, I tend to agree that as one gets older it does seem to fade a little, I do tend to have two or three falls a year due to lack of balance which my G.P. put down to the tinnitus. |

Within and with others who are also experiencing vibrational changes in their energies. Scientific research in this area is also developing rapidly and within the next 10 years will be considered much more mainstream. |

"Got hearing aids for mine, and to deal with some top end loss. 15 years of aircraft noise did mine in, as well as frying my bollocks so I'm infertile. Awesome."
Yes noisy environments cause a lot of damage as well as injuries and various medical conditions. It is important to rule out damage before considering there might be something deeper going on. |

Honestly didn’t realise how bad mine was until we moved to rural Wales, Now it’s so quiet at night you literally could hear a pin drop.
Well I could if it wasn’t for the ever present low frequency whistle in my ears. Took me months to sleep properly when we first moved here.

I find my tinnitus comes and goes, and I've learned to live with it. For what it's worth it seems worse when my weight rises and I get acid reflux in ENT areas. A bit of exercise and dieting and both reflux and tinnitus disappear. |

Mine is high pitched whistle, perhaps more of a chime, and is there nearly all the time but often I can ignore it until I think about it or someone mentions tinnitus!
What I find interesting is that it is of a far higher frequency than I can hear from an external source at my age.
When I get round to it, I might try sweeping a signal generator around the higher audio range and seeing if it will mix in my ear to produce a beat note. Has anyone tried this?

I took part in a clinical trial about 3 years ago. It was listening sounds with headphones and having a device on your tongue ( sounds mad).
It was for an hour every day for six months.
I had tinnitus since I was a teenager and it's completely gone. |

There are sound frequency tests on YouTube with frequency displayed on screen. Be interesting to see what range people have |
