What do you think of me?

I did one of these recently but I think that at the moment with the recent degree of angst over the last few days, a moment of self reflection, introspection and non reactive thought about others might be helpful.
It might seem a strange idea but at it’s heart is the intent for us to be more rounded and understanding people.
Self reflection is an important tool in understanding what, why and how we act but so is how others honestly see us.
Post that you’re in on the thread, then respond to others via message with honest opinions about people. Not nasty, not sycophantic, honest appraisals of how you feel about them, this isn’t a chance to try to ‘get in’ with that hottie, this should be a self improvement exercise.
The intent is to honestly see how others view us, if you give criticism, then please be constructive with it. Remember to be kind folks. Let’s see how this goes...

I’m also in,
Honesty, self reflection and self improvement are all such important things. We can always strive to not just improve ourselves, but also the way that we interact with those around us. My job of self improvement will never end, I always strive to do better and to treat those around be well.

Good idea but you can't be sure that some people will just comment in the positive to the people they like, or are in their circle? Or respond to people they want to know? That kind of negates what you are trying to achieve.
Self reflection in my experience is something people find it hard to do at the best of time. Especially when people are appraising.

That's not been the case for me. I started sending messages to everyone on the thread and received them from people I didnt expect.
I've not had a chance to get all the way through the thread, but anyone that I haven't messaged yet I will do through the course of the evening. My friends already know what I think of them, good and bad, and don't need me to tell them, but it's only fair as far as I'm concerned to give everyone a message if they've asked.
If it was purely an exercise in blowing smoke up people's backsides then it would be pointless, but if it's an exercise in honesty and reflection then it can only be a good thing.
And that doesn't mean being nasty for the sake of it, just being honest and constructive. |
