I don't suppose he was ever going to say 'yeah, I did it' on national TV. Now it'll be down to the lawyers to argue insanity or some such shit. I want the whoever did it to go into the main prison population and become a shower bitch, or even worse, get a daily kicking. He won't though as he'll be a section 43 and segregated from everyone else. Cunt.

After watching that tits performance at the press conference the other day I said then to my wife "There is your man" he looks as guilty as hell! My question would have to be towards the police. as you are privy towards much gathered information about this family do you not think sending in a trained sniffer dog for dead bodies would have gone a long way in lets say the first few days instead of a full week later. I know hindsight is a wonderfull thing but come on it doesn't take Poirot! FFS. I have just seen images of her grandmother walking round her estate with the regulation t shirt with her grandaughters face on it (God love her) with a fag in her gob! It was also alleged that the scum bag in question was involved in some sort of relationship with Tia's mother who is God knows where, which without wishing to be judgemental in any way sort of stinks of shades of Jeremy Kyle She looked a lovely young girl who had her life ahead of her. Like what was said earlier you can choose your friends but family your stuck with

Rule 43 has needed a serious overhaul for years....

Interesting how the Met got to him so quick. Had to really, as the 'Addington Army' wold have hung him... Like Croydons answer to 'Deliverance' down there.....

The first thing I said last Saturday when I heard on LBC that she had gone missing and they said she had left her Oyster card (bus pass for those not familiar with what we use in London) and her mobile phone at her Nans, was 'She's hasn't gone anywhere'..... Wish I hadn't been so right....

If it's so glaringly obvious to a lay person that the 'normal' behaviour of a 12yr old girl would NOT be to go out without her bus pass and mobile, why the fuck wasn't it obvious to the Bill???

To be honest I think the Met is so stretched due to the Olympics, would not be surprised if it emerges that a DCI with little or no missing persons/possible murder enquiry experience was put on the case.

I would have thought that the moment police involved in Shannon Matthew's case got involved that the police new exatly what line the enquiry needed to take.

AS for the Met, I can;t imagine serious crime are overly inolved in the day to day policing of the games, bit I could be wrong.

I really struggle with how people become instant experts/critics in a case like this. Ignore that a poor little girl has died and go all CSI, pretty pathetic really.

I think you are 100% correct. The body language and circumstancial clues were plain for us to see on the News. Presumably the Police did think that as well as they have allegedly searched the house a few times in the last week.

Think the Police may have to answer a few questions as a result of this.

Also agree with the other poster who spoke about her family - seem like a strange bunch - to say the least.

Ordinarily, I would agree. But in this case there were two or three crucial and well-publicised pieces of information which set this apart from a 'normal' (how bad is that??) missing child enquiry. Two of them were the bus pass and mobile phone. The other was a complete lack of actual evidence of her leaving the area. Don't know if you know the Addington area, but the only way for 12yr old to get from there to the Whitgift Centre in Croydon was by bus or tram, both of which have CCTV. And yet there were no pics of her on either. Yet time was spent following up 50+ 'sightings'. The only other possible way was someone took her in a car. If so, who?

However, despite knowing this VERY early on, this seems to have been treated like all other missing persons cases where they are simply NOT investigated for 24hours as... 'the person can come home of their own accord'. An attitude which I have always thought appalling and now my opinion on that 'approach' being nothing short of a disgrace is even more entrenched.

Also, neither the Gran or the man now under arrest, were arrested prior to being questioned as happened to a young couple in another well-publicised case near to me at the beginning of this year. The couple in that case were arrested, questioned and then bailed - i.e. their whereabouts would have been known to the Police until their bail was cancelled. They could not even leave the area unless the Police said they could.

The person now under arrest was not subject to any detention (POlice have the power to hold a suspect under arrest for 24hours) or bail restrictions and, as result, would appear to have 'done a runner' to Merton where he was arrested last night.

That's why the people in Addington, and all over London are questioning how this particular case has been handled.

And, no I am not about to reveal my CV on here....

The Scotland Yard spokesman said last night that three searches over a four day period were made, one of which involved specialist search dogs.

I am puzzled that the dogs did not discover the body earlier. I can see a case for them suspecting him and watching his behaviour, and that of the family, at close quarters until they had something tangible to pin on him. But, how well can you really hide a body in house of that size in warm weather?

likewise on the search dog, did think perhaps they may have used a dog trained to search for a live casualty..

then the dog yesterday was a 'body' search dog..

and a lot is down to the level of the search also, did they during the early searches do the attic?

the facts will come out in due course perhaps..

one another point, posters saying the family are a 'strange bunch' ??

based on what exactly, the media perhaps?

not many on here know the family one would assume..

which of us are perfect and live perfect lives, how many of us with a 12 year old missing would be seen in the 'best' light?

the child has been murdered and is laid out as we speak..

bit of humanity for her family perhaps, rather than calling them strange..

Once again the police knockers are out in force, people have so much to say about how investigations are carried out without knowing all the facts.

A person cannot be questioned about an incident without being arrested but cannot be arrested without reasonable grounds to suspect that that person was involved. Often the police will have suspicions but will not arrest immediately allowing them time to gather the evidence without the suspect being aware of the suspicions.

I get fed up with people knocking the British police force who do a grand job in difficult circumstances, let’s remember it is a sick and evil person who has taken Tia’s life, and it looks like that person is now in police custody, if that results in a successful conviction then the police could do no more.

I for one am glad we still have an independent police force and that group 4 have not been given the task, after the Olympic fiasco

After a certain amount of time the normal smell of the body oder changes so if your looking for a dead body you have to use Cadaver dogs who are trained in picking up the sent of human remains

a very sad case indeed, how ever its not as simple as police accusing someone of murder without evidence. Friend of ours is an under cover officer and was involved in a murder very similar to this in our area some years ago, they knew then it was the step father, but took them a while to gather enough information to be able to charge him with murder, its actually the cps who decide not police if enough evidence...... so lets hope they continue to do a good job and if anyone else is involved that they are arressted as well!!!

I understand that, but I don't get why both dogs weren't taken in. Too the family and the general public they would have just been dogs. Using dogs to get her scent and see where it leads outside makes sense. In the house I would assume her scent is everywhere but they would check where the dogs are indicating.

I am not knocking the police at all here - I fully appreciate the delicacy of treating the family members as suspects without any cause when called in for a missing child. If any accusation had been made too soon and it had proved incorrect there would be an equally vehement police cock up story, alongside a story of distraught family put through police cruelty.

You seem to have conveniently overlooked my comment of the police publically announcing that they were liaising with the police involved with the search for Shannon Matthews. How clearer a statement could they have made that they suspected the family?

And what the police release via the media is very carefully controlled, it is rarely if ever a true reflection of what is happening behind the scenes.

If that body had been there a week in this weather then you would not have needed sniffer dogs to find it. Unless it was very, very well concealed the smell would have been apparent to anyone entering the property.

The police have been very quick to say how many times they had previously searched the house, that dogs have been involved and have also said that they need to find out how long she had lay there for. As others have said the full picture is far from known at the moment.

The thing is, we, the public, dont know what went on during the enquiry or how it was handeled. we are all once again being fed by the usual media hype that gives us all these so called experts that crawl out whenever these things happen.

Yes they may have searched teh house, but as yet we dont know how the body was concealed or even whether it was transported back to the house.

In the Fred West case it took police days to find bodies that were well concealed.

To accuse the police of missing these so called 'obvious clues' without any inside knowledge is wrong.

We dont have inside info about this but no doubt the true will out eventually.

as for arresting the relatives and placing them on bail conditions, you cannot arrest someone without good cause and just because soemone may 'look a little dodgy' isnt.

i do get a little peeved at peoples perception that they know better than the experts when they only have half the knowledge.

yes its a terrible crime and yes if they are guilty then let them have the full force of the law but please dont criticise the police when we dont know what was going on within the enquiry.

Dont get me wrong whoever killed that child is the scum of the earth but there are several people who had access to that house all because the police suspect its him dont mean it is, could be one of a few family members or a friend that went round

"

So really it as all about being politically correct? I am sorry but clues were obvious to anyone watching the news let alone being on the inside.

No CCTV footage

Oyster card & phone at home

Body language of "boyfriend"

Attitude of Grandmother

All are circumstancial of course but good enough reason to be a bit more aggressive. If we saw these clues on general news channels - what did the Police themselves know?

Do we know if the 'one other' is another "step parent"?

do people honestly think that the police have been ignorant to all these so mentioned 'obvious' facts, sorry not facts, feelings, hunches call them what you like????

how do you know they werent acting on exactly those pointers?? it is a standard police practice to put relatives in front of the cameras if they have a wiff of suspicion and to monitor their body language, they have experts there to do that. it helps them concentrate their enquiries.

how would it look though if they took a 'they look guilty' attitude without going through all the other lines of enquiry??

its so easy for us to sit and criticize the experts when we dont know the 'facts'

If it was a accident or planned

Not that it being a accident makes the out come any better but i cant get my head round the fact that people actually plan to do such things, theres something inside me that hopes that Gran mother isnt involved because the thought of a little girls going to her Grans, someone she loves and trusts and being exposed to that just makes me feel sick

I've no doubt whatso ever they suspected this worthless piece of shit from the off, they need to gather all the evidence for a solid conviction so to avoid the politicaly correct brigade jumping in and some smart arsed lawyer lining his pockets and getting this piece of shit a lesser sentence

if people remember back a bit Jo yeates landlord was arrested and subjected to trial by media where he would have been torn limb from limb if let out in public, all because he looked a bit of a perv and people assumed he was guilty as sin.

yes, everyone was there after seeing him on telly.

so 2 questions. The posters that have refered to political correctness - can you expand on that? Because I don't see the link?

And those that know how flawed the police investigation was, have you made your concerns known to the IPCC. I'm sure they'd love to hear your concerns? Or do you think they may just laugh at you?

We live in a society that places demands on the way the Police carry out investigations.

Human Right Laws, liable cases and the media have all resulted in there being a host of rules and regulations that our Police have to abide by. They, like all our essential services do a fantastic job within the confines that we as a society have placed on them. So cut them some slack.

I don't suppose he was ever going to say 'yeah, I did it' on national TV. Now it'll be down to the lawyers to argue insanity or some such shit. not meaning to be pedantic but is called rules not sections and it now rule 45 not 43...

you are not automatically put on the "cucumbers" as they're called you have to ask to go them...

but you're right whoever did it is a cunt and deserves to have the shit kicked out of them .

The Grandmother may have been arrested in connection to this, but she hasn't been charged nor found guilty. If, she is then I wholeheartedly agree with your comments Popeye but if she isn't be careful. I remember the blonde solicitor lady who was gound dead on Xmas Day a couple of years ago. The landlord of her flats was arrested, the papers and TV all went nuts accusing him of this and that and finding him guilty in less time than it takes a Chinese court, only for him to be released, initially on bail pending further enquiries only for later a totally different man to be charged and found guilty and this landlord to be a totally innocent man.

Until the Grandmother is charged at the very least, I'd reserve judgement as she may be an innocent victim in all this too.

I was wondering the same, was it some sort of accident and they got scared and hid the body. The grandfather has a history of drug use, could he have given her something and it went totally wrong. I am glad they have found him, if he has done it the reasons will come to light. Not like those that do murder then murder themselves so we never know for sure

Tragic outcome for Tia. We have read the comments relating to possible flaws in the police investigation as posted here. But just a thought - the step grandfather was arrested on Friday - no court Saturday allowing more time for Hezzel to be in the cells and for the police to work on him re inter_iews etc before court on Monday. So just a thought is it that the Met knew what they were doing and planned the arrest for Friday ........

So they are saying they couldn't find a body! not a key or a phone or anything like that. A body in a small 2 or 3 bedroomed house within 2 hours given they was actually looking for a person in the first place Well fook me it would appear they are worse than I thought. "

And you know exactly what was going on in the enquiry how?

I would have thought that the moment police involved in Shannon Matthew's case got involved that the police new exatly what line the enquiry needed to take.

AS for the Met, I can;t imagine serious crime are overly inolved in the day to day policing of the games, bit I could be wrong.

I really struggle with how people become instant experts/critics in a case like this. Ignore that a poor little girl has died and go all CSI, pretty pathetic really.

RIP Tia.

You seem to have conveniently overlooked my comment of the police publically announcing that they were liaising with the police involved with the search for Shannon Matthews. How clearer a statement could they have made that they suspected the family?

And what the police release via the media is very carefully controlled, it is rarely if ever a true reflection of what is happening behind the scenes."

Been at work since I last posted so only comeback to this now. No, I wasn't overlooking the fact that they had contacted the Police who handled the Shannon Matthews case. And yes you are of course correct that information given to the media, AND how the media presents that info IS very carefully controlled in any investigation... BUT.... there appears to have been a number of incorrect and very embarrassing (for the Police) assumptions made in the first 48hrs of the enquiry, which now 'appear' to have affected the conduct of the investigation. And that, to me, points to an inexperienced senior officer in charge. That's all I am saying.

Now that one person has been charged and two more are still in custody under suspicion, I won't be adding further to anything I have said in this thread as it would not be appropriate..

Were the police searching the house for a body the first time round? Must be hard going into a grieving household and kind of accuse the family.. and then to find that they are involved must be awful.

Who expects Grandma to be involved in the death of her grand daughter... shocking, just shocking!

Have to admit thinking the same about the boyfriend. I was being judgemental thinking, granny to a 12 year old?!! I also wouldn't have left my granddaughter overnight alone with a 37 year old man!

Didn't see granny being arrested though. I'm still hoping the police are (finally)trying to be thorough, and she didn't have anything to do with it.
