Do you drink enough water?
Jump to: Newest in thread
I'm rarely thirsty I take that to mean I'm taking on enough liquid via food and drink.
While we're on the subject why do some people need to swig water from a sports top bottle during meetings at work? Have glasses gone out of fashion? |

I drink enough fluids most days, but not in the form of unadulterated water. Lots of Green tea maybe 4 or 5 huge mugs, 2 coffees, 2 decaf coffees. Rarely do I drink just water. |

"Oh this? yes, I fill it from an organic stream next to my yurt, saves on plastic and the airmiles shipping bottled water, and it's handy for when I'm working out in the gym *flexes guns*" |

I nearly always drink out of bottles as its the only way I can make myself not become unwell from dehydration because I can physically monitor my fluid intake and set myself targets. |

"Of course! Carry a 2L bottle with me everywhere - im that guy you see with the same Evian bottle.
Normally get down 8L a day
You must piss like a racehorse?"
I drink a minimum of 2ltrs a day plus herbal teas. I'm frequently having to piss like racehorse. Can be a problem when out and about |

I drink at least two bottles of water every day. Only take two coffees a day and no caffeine at all after 5pm. I used to have a cup of tea about half 7 but I started walking up in the middle of the night so I stopped taking it. Now I sleep right through and I feel so much better for it x |

I think most people don't drink enough water. Me included. |

I mean I’m at the toilet every hour... but never get woken up in the night for one.
Just one of them things I’ve done for many years - body has been through physical abuse through sports for years, so needed a lot of fluid replaced. My body is used to it now |

We (humans) are capable of extracting water from many things... including tea, coffee, fruit juice, pop, milk, beer, wine, etc...

I mostly drink water, i have a couple of mugs of decaf coffee too. Occasionally a smoothie, wine, orange etc.
I suffer from a very dry mouth and throat due to Sjogrens Syndrome so i carry a bottle of water with me ALL the time and have a sip frequently. However i also have problems with my kidneys so i have to slightly limit my fluid intake. It's a pain and i spend most of my life with a mouth so dry i keep gagging plus needing to pee every hour lol |

C doesn’t drink enough water throughout the day...she’s terrible for it!
So much so that I bought her a builders type hat with two drink holders and long straws so when she’s at her office desk she can wear it and drink water
I’ve not seen her wear it for zoom meetings yet

It's your age OP
You feel less thirsty when you get older true story!
I try and drink 2 litres a day - but admit it is an effort - I prefer coffee or wine - gin and tonic at a push |

I only carry lidded cups/bottles in my wheelchair cup holder because carrying open vessels results in spillage. Best case, it looks like I wet myself. Worst case was when I sloshed boiling tea over my thighs. I'm the one with the sports bottle, soz |

I use a bottle most of the time as carrying a glass around isn't practical. |

I have a 2l bottle that I fill with squash and try to drink that on top of any other drinks I have each day.
When I go out or to the gym I have a 1l bottle that I take.... Again with squash.
I don't like plain water |

I'd imagine these days its about knowing your drinking from a safe container but even before then it's just easier to carry water in a bottle. I know how much I've d*unk if I only drink from my bottle. |

"I definitely don't drink enough. Lots of tea, but not enough water!"
Same. One of the worst things I could have read was that tea counts towards your fluid intake and is not the powerful diuretic I assumed it to be. I took this as carte blanche to drink more tea |

There’s no evidence drinking excess water does anything except strain your organs and make you pee more. Bottled water makers come up with silly figures but the acid test is the colour of your pee. All food and fluid counts , that water goes in and comes out whether it’s tea, coffee, fruit , fizzy drinks |

Same. Plus I'm a clumsy oaf so less damage to important documents if I use a bottle
In fact one place I worked at we weren't allowed to have open drink cups at our desks. |

Drinking water is an excellent idea, BUT 5 litres a day is harmful. Generally speaking adults need about 1,5 to 2 litres of FLUID a day. If it is very hot and/or you do strenuous exercise then you can probably increase your fluid intake to 3 or 3,5 litres a day (depends how much liquid you lose by sweating).10 Mar 2006 |

I don't eat or drink in meetings. I use a bottle because it's vodka.
We have a bloke who eats fish or curries in meetings. |

Well obviously you need to be discreet with the vodka .
I've sat through many a meeting with someone glugging away at a water bottle. I get that we all need to be hydrated but I genuinely don't understand the need to drink water constantly and in every situation that some people have. |

For some reason water bottles irritate me
Especially the custom made ones with bits of fruit floating in them.
And plastic bottles are just polluting the planet - and there's nothing more irritating than someone sucking on a sports cap
Just have a glass FFS
It's water OCD for people measuring their intake - like it's hard to count glasses |

How many ml does a glass hold? |

I've got no idea but if I needed to measure my exact intake I'd probably use a calibrated bottle and if possible pour it into a glass.
My mum has just had to carefully measure intake and output of fluid due to heart failure. This involved measured quantities of liquid and a catheter. A relative on dialysis has to limit fluid intake too but that's measured in cups of tea etc. |

I'm clumsy too (i have ET) so I'm much safer with a bottle. While working i now have an ipad with me all the time so I'm not allowed an open cup then, nor when using other work devices at other times. |
