I am talking about anything from money, gifts and material things to being generous with your time, giving it freely to those who need a listening ear and perhaps also being generous in praising others where you feel they could do with a bit of support? |

"Don't you think boasting about what you do for others slightly crass? Personally I admire those who give freely but do it silently." I can see what you mean. I dint intend to ask people to boast , I was curious about what they feel they are generous with. In my case I am quite generous with my time with people. Hope that makes sense. |

I didn't see it as asking for a boast...
When I saw the thread title the only word that came to mind was 'too' - it's not a good thing. I question my instinct on this.
But the person I would most like to be like was the most generous human I have ever met. Even when he was going through his cancer treatment he met a teenager who said she wished she had time to learn to play the guitar. He bought her a guitar and took the time to teach her. And, there are a 100 more stories like that about him. It's not the stories I want to generate for myself but the pureness of his giving, which sought no thanks and never any glory. |

Wow - that is what I would call genuine giving - very humbling and inspiring! |

He is still inspiring people. The best funeral I have ever been to - even the space for standing room only was full and people were outside the doors listening in. Lots of laughter, live music and dancing - just as he would have enjoyed it. |

I think we are generous...we give away what we can to people who need it more, we were brought up like that..'hand-me downs' be they clothes, toys or furniture..we dont come from a background were things were wasted...
Go to any local civic waste depot and you will be sickened by what people throw out..if something can do someone a turn that give it to them..
Its the right thing to do and it gives you a nice sense of well-being too... |

I haven't got much in the way of money to give, but I am always happy to give my time and hugs and cuddles if they are needed. I hasdnt really thought about it but I always have. Been ashoulder to cry on for many an friend anytime, day or night. I do it in my job on a daily basis, it comes naturally to me, I couldn't be any other way.

There are people on these forums, that you would have absolutly no idea what they do for other in their community, you never hear them mention it they just do because they want to and dont want a clap on the back |

I'd say the answer for me is moderately... though when it comes to listening and praising it needs to be for people who genuinely need it rather than to just inflate their ego or some other motive... otherwise it's just gossiping and arse licking. |

Lots of time, love and support for anyone who genuinely needs/deserves it. I'll even give time to the local group of alcoholics who congregate outside the post office, they're actually very friendly.
Also all hand-me-downs go to good causes, recycle almost everything, and obviously share loads of sexy time and fluids with BamBam |
