A world all of his own

I work shifts, and have done for over 24 years so erm, all over the show lol. Worse recently but that's due to external influences.

We go to sleep between 1 and 2 am and wake up around 8:30 to 9:30. I sleep really well, Mr N sleeps very badly due to pain.

I came to the conclusion that sleep was overrated when I became a mum to a child who made it their mission to not sleep through one night until they turned 4. Now I just don't sleep

I don’t think I’ve had a regular sleeping pattern since I started working. I have a habit of taking ‘power naps’ instead. I have even taken power naps in between ordering my meal at a restaurant and when it arrives on my table.

How’s that for efficient use of time.

I’ve been off work due to being in and out of the hospital over the last two months...My sleep pattern is crap now. Tomorrow is my first day back to work and I’ll probably need a nap around noon.

Thank you, I feel great but, the lack of an afternoon nap may be my downfall.

I know what you mean. They can make all the difference. Even just 15 mins of it can rejuvenate me as much as a decent sleep.

My sleep pattern is about as screwed as it can be.

I get 4 hours a night max.

When I'm asleep I'll sleep solidly. It's getting to sleep that's the issue.

I'm really lucky — I'm one of those people who falls asleep easily, sleeps impenetrably throughout the night, and comes cleanly awake and ready to spring out of bed and start my day.

There are two catches:

- My brain won't let me sleep more than about six hours. Seven at the occasional most.

- My brain doesn't give me much say in *when* I sleep. When I was freelancing a few years ago, I became effectively nocturnal. These days I am an obnoxiously early bird – awake and ready to go by 4am most days. No *reason* – I just don't get a conscious say in the matter.
