as im looking after my mum these days ive been having conversations about how things have changed.
she said M&S was the only place you could get clothes that were well made and fit.
now my mum is frail not completely the full ticket at 74 and after her hip operation on a lot of medication so im asking you ladies if this is true?
Has M&S quality changed or is it still one of the places you can get quality.
btw they stopped doing my fav biscuits and im not happy about it.
over to you ladies. |

They do sell well-made clothing, but most of it isn't to my taste.
Their children's clothing always looked old-fashioned and their women's clothing very mumsy.
I prefer Debenhams or Next but Debenhams is closing down.

Their clothes are what I call a "classic cut" which isn't flattering to many. They're also very dull in my opinion. I think they're catering to a diminishing and limited market and nobody at M and S seems to have realised.
Their knickers are great though |

I find their sizes come up big and it's disappointing when you like something and it doesn't fit. So I tend not to look.
The food and underwear is good though. |

I've only ever bought the occasional thing from there, we don't even have one in the city centre now and just an outlet at Gunwharf. Usually it's pyjamas or underwear. I think it was always too old lady for me previously, although they do different ranges now. |

"They have a few ranges of clothes and it all depends what you are looking for, they do some very reasonable tops n skirts, trousers etc.
My mother at 77 wears a lot of M&S clothes.
"
Which says it all.
They failed to capture any other market. Their customers have remained the same group, and aged with the clothing ranges.
They also destroyed the unique customer first attitude, demoralised their workforce, and failed to modernise.
Apart from food halls, they will be missing from the high Street very soon. |

They went missing from my high street years ago, they were the only reason I visited my local town tbh, now our closest stores are in retail parks, still its worth the ride out for their groceries |
