Secret hideaway in the pennines |
In a contemplative mood this afternoon.
How many guys look in the mirror and see themselves as handsome, or good looking or whatever ever term you want to use.
i found a photo from the 80s of me when I had a full head of hair and a cracking porn trash and I wonder where that handsome person went |

Depends on the mirror , and depends on my mood.

I think a lot of men aren't as critical of themselves as some women.
I went shopping today so saw myself full length in a lot of mirrors - I'm not happy |

Happy in my own skin, radiate the energy I carry within me to some that’s an attractive glow to others it’s off putting..I’m not here to please everyone if you like what you see and there’s that mutual attraction then I guess that’s perceived as good looking.
I don’t stand in front of the mirror thinking I’m gods gift but equally I’m not unhappy with the person staring back at me x |

Hmm I wouldn’t necessarily agree with that. What I would say is we have very choice.
Make-up and the vast majority of the clothing, beauty etc industries are aimed at women. We have very little (outside of exercising) choice to change our appearance. Also I think people are more judgemental of what men wear (see that guy, he had green trousers on! A woman in a green skirt wouldn’t raise an eyebrow).
So most men don’t focus on these things because essentially, in our case, you can’t polish a turd |

I would love to blame the lighting instead of all the trips to the fridge I've made during lockdown!

Half of me thinks I look OK half of the time, the other half is more realistic though and goes off to buy a more blurry mirror and some commiserational ice cream |

As a teenager I was described as ugly and plug but I remember a very attractive girl at sixth form telling me that she thought I would get better looking as I aged. I’ve hung on to that even 35 years later, I hope she was right. |

I’m not putting myself down but I don’t tend to see myself as good looking or handsome. I prefer rugged,
My smile that people like is because of an accident we’re I broke my jaw. And the muscles on one side don’t work the same as the other. So I only really smile from one side of my face.
I’m not comfortable in a suit or dressed up. I like my jeans, t shirt and flip flops if I can’t wear flip flops they’re mountain boots. I go for the jack reacher approach of a drifter. I have a house but mostly spend my life living out of a large grip.
People can take me as they find me, I’m happy with my face.

Work with what you have . I will be happy to get my roots done but I'm happy with what I see. I think I'm good looking, thousands no millions of people don't but it's what I and the people who love me think that's important. |

The mirror is there to make sure my hair is brushed, clothes on right and alike.
The body carrying it is what it is, it’s not going to change much except more wrinkles and a little shrinkage over time, all part of growing old embrace it, smile and walk |

I look in the mirror and love what I see facially, the body has some work.
When I was 20/21 I was insecure about my face, nothing major, I just picked at little things and wish for surgery to make my nose smaller for example. Now at 27 I like how I look facially and don’t wish for any surgery!

Not particularly, i have days and think oh yeh your looking on point today gats, but the rest of the time i dont really think about it.
We can all pick fault with ourselves even the prettiest of people.
At the end of the day beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So whilst some will think i have the face of a stomped on lasagne others will think ive the face of a well presented fruity marshmallow pebble cookie. |

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I would say I'm average looking with an average figure.
Do look in the mirror and see an OK reflection.
Due to my past I sometimes do think that I'm not nice at all in every way, my true friends say different. |

No because I don't like looking at myself in the mirror or on photos. But if I wear something and get compliments I feel more confident/attractive next time I'm dressed the same, if that makes sense |

I used to have 0 confidence and low self esteem, I think now I'm not gonna be everyone's cuppa tea and I think I'm attractive but not to everyone. I was always made to feel shit about myself. Now days I'm not over confident but I now have the mind set nobody is to good for me or I'm to good for anyone else. |

Fab is a disaster when you feel like that because we always compare ourselves to others. But what are we comparing to? A photo that took 100 shots to get right, good lighting, filters, suck in the belly? And then you have some young lad half your age who is in the gym every day. I love people that are good looking and work to be that way. Huge respect for them. but none of us should let it get us down... |

I’ve had fairly long periods with no mirrors before in the house, and it’s quite easy to not even think about appearance in the same way, though I don’t overly use them often to be fair. I’ve always been quite content with how I look, not negative or arrogant, I just let others think what they wish really, makes no particular difference to me. I’ve found some of the most vain or self obsessed as the most troubled in regards to perceptions of their looks, or more attention seeking, which makes me sad, and I’ve seen people who mask their confidence as they feel the need to, it’s an interesting topic and thread. Good question OP. |

Wow. I am very surprised by how under confident a lot of the males are on this forum. I thought the male brain’s default setting was to look in a mirror and see the positive first.
So actually we’re all insecure in some way?!
Honestly embrace and love the imperfect you.... you’re all damn fucking hot! |

I'll always compliment a good looking guy but I dont compare myself or feel ugly in front of anyone now. I am what I am I'm happy and confident in myself. Took a long time to get there though. Wont every be made to feel different |

My looks haven't really changed, but I've grown into them. I was extremely gauche in my 20s, just awkward with bad hair and no sense of myself. Old photos have a tendency to make me grimace more than pine over lost looks!
My face will never be my fortune and it isn't improving any with age but I am less awkward and more comfortable taking my place in the world, more accepting of my looks.
My weight fluctuates wildly, but very fat or marginally less fat, I never really felt differently about my body. |

Depends what side of the bed I've woken up on. If I'm feeling like shit, i tend to think I'm looking like shit. It's all mind set and we're all sexy in our own ways x |
