Another follow on thread.
Following on from princesspeach's commenting on profile's thread and realising her comments on my profile were pretty accurate for the impression I was going for - is your profile intentionally (or unintentionally) appealing or off-putting? |

I try and put as many off as possible with my self depreciation
But seriously, it's a good feeling when you can be honest, warts and all (I don't have warts btw) |

All over the place! Northwesr, , Southwest |
I've tailored it in an effort to come across as appealing for my target audience.
Ultimately, each person will be the judge if it is or isn't.
Just do the best you can and hope for the best. Always curious to know regardless |

I think there are few people who create a profile with the intention of it being off putting we are all here to attract someone, some wish to attract the masses and some are more selective...whatever your reason for being here your profile should reflect you in whatever way you choose...how it is perceived is purely down to the person reading it x |

mine tries to give as much of an idea about me / what I'm here for as possible without sounding like a life story or CV
I've found I'm more likely to chat / click with people from interacting on the forums as opposed to just through a profile... you get a more rounded view of the person IMO, albeit its still the side of the person they want to show. |

I think mine is just honest. If I have an underlying agenda, that is part of the truth too.
The reason I haven't rewritten it is because I haven't rewritten myself.
I have appendices or foreword, but the truth is that the profile is as much of ne as I am (comfort)able to give. |

I don’t quite remember what I put.
But I do think it might be off putting. As a couple once said ‘It puts us off...’
But as I replied, apparently no-one ever reads them,
Truthfully though, I am quite a happy person and enjoy people approaching me for a natter about any old stuff. But how do you put that in a profile? |

Honestly? It's pretty dire. I've clearly given it little to no thought and as far as marketing goes it's almost as bad as Sony's PSP campaign failure.
I could and will put more effort in soon and then it will be appealing to those I want it to appeal to. |

Deliberately off putting to a certain sort. Intent being to separate some of the wheat from the chaff before it hits my inbox.
By doing this I make fab a slightly more enjoyable place to spend my time. Not 100% effective but heyho its fab after all |

Both. I've added stuff which will hopefully put off the incompatible and draw in those who are more compatible.
I also know it largely won't be read and (when my filters allow messages again) will delete and block early and often, again. |

"Mine reflects my general feeling about FAB at the minute in that I can't be arsed "
Mines pretty much the same as this ^^^°
I have made it clear,( tried to add some humour) that I'm just here for the forum's.
Majority respect that and don't message |

Our profile is essentially a sales page but like anything in relation to sales, it’s only good if the person/people are in the market to buy.
We are happy with our profile and how it’s perceived. It’s introduced us to a lot of people and we’ve made some lovely connections.
It might put some people off but that’s fine...we aren’t here to please all. Just the ones we want to

Mine is intentionally not sexy and overly flippant because I prefer to to the approaching myself after observing how people interact on the forum, and the plan was to deflect attention. Turns out it was a rubbish plan because most don't read a profile before messaging anyway. However, my profile text amuses me so all was not lost. |

Mine is a good reflection of me and my reasons for being here. Some might be put off by it while others may not but that would be up to them to answer that question.
I can be funny and/or serious depending on the time of day/week/month so mine is probably an Osmond profile. A little bit country and a little bit rock and roll. |

Mine is much longer than I want it to be - not idea but then I want people to know about what I am looking for so they don't waste time (theirs and mine) - that said, it's tongue in cheek or something.... |
