I just had an interview for a job and I don't know why but mind went blank. Not sure if it's cos I haven't done one for a while or because it was on zoom but was really bad.

??

I find Zoom interviews tricky... But I talk a lot with my face and hands, which just doesn't come through.

It's easier to have some notes along to the interview, though!

I feel your pain and I'm sorry it went badly.

My worst job interview was the last one I ever attended. It was awful. So awful that my friends laughed when I told them about it and so did I.

Don't worry, happens to us all. Virtual interviews are a good chance to be a little sneaky though, next time stick notes behind the screen your using. If you get stuck, they are there to remind you

I'm sorry you felt like that OP but it might not be as bad as you think. My last interview (in person granted) I spent the entire time babbling and getting my words confused out of nerves because I'd had not time to prepare. I went home stressed - but the next day always offered the job!

So something I said must have made sense

THe worst one i had was me and 4 people interviewing me.

I stopped the interview after 3 questions and said thanks for their time but that from their line of questioning I was not going to be what they wanted. It did take them a bit by surprise.

I had a call from one of them later in the day asking me to go back and talk to him but I refused

I had a video interview recently... not a zoom one, but one where it showed me questions and i had to record my answers to questions within a time limit... it was woeful

Im better in a conversational setting, so i think id have preferred a zoom interview, but even then i think id struggle

Hopefully in person ones will come back soon and i can find a job where i dont have to put up with inappropriate texts off my boss (long story...)

Sorry to hear that. I’m not surprised to hear your mind went blank. Interviews can do that to our nerves.

Sorry to hear that and it can leave you feel as if you lost all confidence. Zoom interviews are really difficult, I suggest dust yourself down and look forward to the next one, knowing your worth.

Lol. In my last round of interviews I held I had to tell a candidate to “wake up, I think you have a train to catch” …he’d drifted off mid interview because he’d been out the night before.

I recently had a zoom interview for a new role with people I work with. I went blank despite knowing both people interviewing me!

Don’t stress too much over it, the way the past year has been, it’s something that can’t be helped!

Best of luck to you though!

As George Clooney once told me, an interview is like going to the casino and playing with house money. You go in with nothing, and at worse you come out with nothing.

Also in my experience, interviews that I fucked up always led to a job and interviews I was brilliant in didn't...

I think some of the time, if a company interviews you they've already decided they need you and they're going through the motions ticking boxes and making sure you haven't got three heads.

And sometimes companies conduct interviews knowing there is either no job on offer or they've already chosen someone else.

I was once half an hour late for an interview, due to a powercut

I didn't get it not surprisingly!

Oh no sorry it didn't go well OP

Job interviews are like pulling teeth.

I can only think of one years ago that went well and felt relaxed enough to not let the nerves get to me.

It's all just so fake it's painful!

I dissociated halfway through one, I have no idea how I got through the rest of it or what I said, but the autopilot version of me must be better than the real one because I got the job and I’m still there now!

The actual worst one ever, I hated the area and the office so much that by the time they spoke to me I’d decided to be just bad enough that they wouldn’t consider me. They gave me a typing test - copying a letter - and I said “do you want me to copy it exactly or correct it?” They didn’t even bother to tell me I was unsuccessful ()

I always allow for people's nerves and you can usually tell if the person is genuinely good but just nervous.

And people are always tough on there own performance so fingers crossed it wasn't as bad as you thought it was.

Ive been seeking a new job for a few weeks now ( I got a new one and I am waiting for the drug screen and background check to get back and then I will start with it) but I hate the Zoom interviews. I did great in the phone interview prescreen but I was the worst in the Zoom interviews with the guy ( he was only one and he was in the back of the room and he made me nervous and I screwed it up.

I get nervous in a real interview ( at the beginning) but I should have been ok with the zoom interview but nope..

Plus why are all the job recruiters out of state and most foreign countries and ppl who I. Don't understand what they say or offer. And the way that they are pushy and especially when they want you to confirm the email.

Worst one I ever had was a while back, usual face to face interview that didn't go well then they gave me a written "quiz" that had nothing to do with the company or the job. Once that was over I met with the head of the company who, at the end of the chat, said "we won't be meeting each other again" and left.

I hate zoom/teams full stop. You cant read people properly and their body language/reactions.

I've only had a brief interview which I had no clue how it went but got the job.

My worst one the guy interviewing me, Engineering Director started answering emails and answered his phone while I was talking. I just got up and left.

Worst interview I had was on a zoom interview and the Woman kept on laughing nervously and saying "CAN YOU HEAR Me" it was for a Deputy Manager in a Day Nursery role and she conducted the interview in the base room surrounded by Children. I faked an electrical failure

Worst interview I undertook was when I was a deputy in another Nursery, Girl turned up late and was wearing jeans and a hoody which didn't sit well, but I reserved judgement and went ahead. I showed her round the building and conducted the interview,

Onsite at the time was the Nursery director who said to me after she left "Did you see her face when she saw me?" I replied with a no and questioned him. The director was also Sargeant of the local police station and told me she had been let out of the cells less than an hour prior to coming to her interview, she had been arrested for d*unk and disorderly behaviour the night before
