"Bradley wiggins.. "

+1 - not just cos he got Olympic gold, but cos he also stuffed it to the French the week before, on their own territory (something we are good at in Great Britain anyway... Who mentioned Agincourt? Lol!) AND in the city London beat to get the Olympics in the first place AND in the year of those same Olympics

The only sure bet will be that the top 10 shortlist on the night will be packed with olympians ..

Wiggins

Hoy

Pendleton

Ennis

Farah

Ainsley

and the rower Kate __?___

My head says Jessica Ennis, but as her career is still ongoing she has more opportunities to win it.

Hoy won it in 2008 and Mark Cavendish is the current holder (another cyclist).

I think it should go to Ben Ainslee.

Wiggo on merit ,TDF winner and Olympic Gold…… …… but I’d like to see a special award of "most bubbly sports personality of the year" go to Laura Trott who’s attitude to life should be an inspiration to every kid in the country……

I agree with Soxy, Laura is a joy to watch being inter_iewed.

But I think if Mo bags the 5000 later this week, it will be him.

It won't be Murray, they'll save that for when he wins Wimbledon, which he will. You don't destroy Roger Federer in three sets and not go on to win Wimbledon, and I think he'll do it next year.

Laura is fantastic. And let's not forget that this is a girl who was born with a collapsed lung and spent the first part of her life in intensive care and was only encouraged to take up sport to try and make her more healthy.

I said earlier in the week when she won her first gold that there is not a better example for young women to see sport in a positive light than her Dani King and Jo Rowsell. Just how much fun they have shines through. Compare to Vickie P who never looks to enjoy it.

As for sports personality Wiggins. In 2008 there was a concerted campaign orchestrated by the cycling media to not split the vote and the same will happen again. As he does actually have a personality it would be great to see, though personally my vote would go for Mo Farah

Doubt this time round the cycling media would not be able to influence the vote like they did in 2008. Bradleys achievements are so much bigger than the cycling world that the 'common man' would have his voice heard properly on that one.... or so I would like to think.....

There are so many worthy contenders this year but I'll vote for Jessica Ennis. Wide range of talents and strengths, the fabulous finish of the 800m when she didn't even need to - and, since this is a swingers site after all, can I add that she would be my ultimate fantasy fuck.

The bookies dont usually get it wrong.....

William Hill Bradley Wiggins 2/5

Coral Bradley Wiggins 4/9

Betfair Bradley Wiggins 11/20

Although money has been going on Jess Ennis at a fair rate Wiggins remains clear favourite.

A cheeky punt of a few quid on a 1-2-3 with Wiggins winning, Ennis 2nd, and Farah 3rd then another few quid on another 1-2-3 replacing Farah with Murray could be worth a gamble.

Team of the year...."Team GB" without a doubt.

Young Sports Personality...Laura Trott

Suspect that Sir Chris Hoy will also be recognised with a lifetime achievement award to.

Personally i think its such a shame that the success of all the British Olympians as come in a year where we have also had the 1st British triumph in the Tour de France as i believe that both Bradley Wiggins and Jess Ennis deserve equal recognition for their monumental achievements during 2012.

I'd go for Laura Trott or Jess Ennis, but it's already obvious that Wiggins will win it. The best thing about the show this year is that the BBC will actually show a lot of sport thats actually been on the BBC.

Team should be Team GB, but lets not forget the Team GB Paralympians who will win shed loads of medals in a couple of weeks. They could also break Team GB down into Team Cycling, Team Rowing & Team Athletics, and possible Team Gym all whom have made great contributions plus ofcourse Team Horses too, so many to choose from. Then there's Chelsea FC for winning European Cup or Man City for winning the league.

If Murrey was to win USA Open, he'd also be a good shout for the individual award and similarly if Hamilton was to win F1 World Championship he'd also have a shout.

One things for certain though this year, it won't be an all male line up for Sports Personality of the Year.

that's a good shout, but an equally good shout would be Ben Ainslie who's unlikely to sail in the Olympics again or Victoria Pendleton whom has retired from competitive sport. Hoy has already said he intends to race at the commonwealth games in Scotland in 2014, so lifetime achievement would be more appropriate then

It's a real shame that Wiggins and Ennis both excelled in the same year....

It will be Wiggins but if it was down to me it would be young Jess....
