Jonny Brownlee had to stop at some point on this run and serve out his 15 second time penalty..

shame they didn't add it to his final time -or- stop him on the bike ride (as would have had less impact).. his brother still up at the front though

How do you figure that the penalty on the bike would have had less of an impact? At that stage of the race it would have been catastrophic.

so Britain now has as many Gold medals as we own in China, and just 5 medals short of our total haul with a silver on it's way from the windsurfing

How do you slip stream a pack that you are 15 seconds behind?

And how does one rider slow a group of over 20 riders?

Answer to both is you can't. Had he taken the penalty at that point every other favourite would have hammered it on the bike and the gap would have widdened massively. Out of interest had you ever watched a triathlon before this week...

Jonny Brownlee collapses after the Triathlon and is taken away by medics in a wheelchair delaying the medal ceremony. His brother is naturally concerned at this time.

O o O oo

I am sure I heard the commentators say that the person can choose which part of the race to take their penalty.

Didn't catch that, the way was posted on bbc website implied it was judges decision.. If was his choice and he felt during the run was his preference then good call

GB triathlete vicky holland explained on bbc at the time of the event the rider can pick when to serve his penalty and it was a good call by johhny brownlee to take on the run section after he and alistair had pushed it to open a gap with which he could take his penalty stop in relative safety, just a pity the spanish athletewas hanging on to them!.

great performances by the brownlee brothers!.

Thanks for the update, we didn't catch that in the office and bbc website suggested it was imposed not chosen point to serve the penalty
