We’ll have our Christmas in the Summer ..

Did anyone else commit to that while socially distancing and having a lonesome festive period in December?

Are you still planning on doing so later in the year?

Will there be presents, crackers, party hats, or are we just all getting d*unk and keeping the neighbours awake in the garden?

For what it’s worth the BPUM (Brad Pitt’s Ugly Mate) clan have all frequently continued to suggest that we should have our Christmas in a few months, but nobody is as yet firming up dates or plans. My guess is we’ll actually celebrate the Christmas we never had ... next Christmas!

I think the idea of an Australian style festive period of Christmas in the sun seems strange but right now the concept of mixing safely and with loved ones sounds amazing

Aye, probably true with us. All the best intentions and all that. Much like committing to meet up with all my old school mates to celebrate Millennium Eve. That never happened either!

I'm having a Christmas get together in June/July - full Christmas dinner with prezzies

C'est moi Boudoir

We were out of lockdown in Ireland for Christmas so had a very reduced gathering (only the popular family members made the list)

Which was lovely. I turned 50 recently under level 5 restrictions so can't wait to kick it up with friends and family for that.

The Australians do it... All you need is a barby and a beach... I'm guessing.

That sounds amazing! Not sure I’d go up into the attic to pull the tree and decorations down again but the rest of it sounds Fab!

I had my Christmas just as I like it but I will happily have another. It has to be a full on Christmas though - presents, crackers, games, a full Christmas dinner

I can’t stand Christmas at Christmas time, let alone in the summer!

Heavy food, Christmas tree and presents when it’s hot outside and short nights? Have fun with that!

I understand the sentiment but is Christmas really that important to people that they need to rerun it?

Christmas is commercialisation at its worst and a forced occasion for most, so why people feel that it’s important to do it when there are better things to celebrate is beyond my understanding

I guess anything goes in these times.

I wanted a Christmas theme for my last day of work once, It was in June. I work in early years and arranged a party complete with tree and presents, the Children dressed up and I wore a Christmas dress

Had a meal out with my colleagues that night and the restaurant had even got the Christmas music out for me and put a tree up complete with crackers, was so excited!

That is what happens when working with children, you end up completely batshit

I think the concept of “we’ll celebrate Christmas in Summer instead” was probably more about having a big family get-together once Covid had eased rather than in December.

In my family we all seemed to agree on the theory of it all, but as I say nothing has really progressed other than “yes, we must all still get together at some undetermined point in the future”.

But will it really be Christmas? Or just a big family BBQ or whatever?

I’ve still got pass-the-parcel sprouts & snowmen and crackers unused .. do I keep them until NEXT Christmas or use them in the Summer?!?
