This is a controversial one but I’m afraid of dogs. Instantly when I admit this, people are taken aback and look at me like I’ve pissed on their tree on Christmas Day but it’s not to be confused with not liking dogs, I get the appeal of dogs, I’m just very, very anxious around them I’ve considered therapy believe me... |

Not controversial at all (dog owner here) you can't help what upsets you in any way shape or form. |

Have a look at pets as therapy dogs if you want some help with that, they are impeccably trained and can help with exposure therapy |

Agreed! And it’s probably the fear of the unknown more than anything as I’ve never grown up with pets, friends have them bug the fear had already kicked in as a child. The amount of times I was chased by dogs because I couldn’t hide my fear as a kid |

"Needles and reliving some of my medical traumas
What happened? Where you ever bitten by anything venomous or poisonous in Os. ?
What's the difference anyway?"
No, and there's no way I'm talking about that stuff in public. |

"Spiders. I don't like them at all.
However, if I'm with someone who is more scared of them than I am, I can pick them up in my hand and remove them.
"
That's the spider - not the friend/child/other |

Dogs are buggers for that... my two know our "adopted" children are wary.... they stay away from them.. but the kids went out to play... my big dog thought she was included, knocked one them over... he's fine with her... but a tad wary |

"A phobia of developing a phobia - does that count?
Essentially yes if it can potentially cripple you in fear of developing a phobia..."
I was being half-serious as I know somebody who is worried about worrying in itself, thinks that her cleaning is becoming obsessive (it is not), her double checking the doors are locked before going to bed is weird (it is not!)
I think her worrying about developing a phobia (e.g. the house might be full of bacteria) is actually preventing her from living a normal life. |

Fear can be self perpetuating, and anxiety is quite often about maintaining a sense of control. |
