Not really, though in some cases pictures show amazing physiques, many don't. Athletic, along with the other body types are used somewhat liberally. What do people see in the mirror? I admire the effort people put into keeping in shape.... Good for them. |

If they state they are athletic and are only looking for others who are also athletic it would most likely make me think nah if that’s all that concerns them
But if it’s just their description of themselves ... it doesn’t mean they don’t find curves attractive too ... so I might x

If they are self describing as athletic then no not at all.
If it says in their profile they are looking for athletic types then I would be wasting mine and their time.

I think you should put whatever you're comfortable with. These sizes aren't set in stone a really, it's mostly up to the people looking at you to decide what they think you come under |

Most who put athletic are not really as its suseptable so i tske it with a pinch of salt. Most people are average in some way or other no matter how athletic they might think they are. A scrauny pigeon chest and some pubesent abs do not make you "athletic" means you have good matabalism at the best. |

Yeah I think if they are athletic that I’m not good enough for them. Even though they may not have stated they are looking for athletic or gym fit I still feel there is no way they could like my body. Maybe says more about me... |

I always just thought of athletic as a body shape? In between slim and muscles that's the only way I've ever thought of it with guys. Dont think I've ever seen any women be referred to on here as athletic.

This sounds like catch 22, being amongst what is classed as old I feel it's important to make an effort to stay in shape in an attempt to attract at least some conversation on here, I have an eclectic taste in the opposite sex as far as body type goes and would not be so narrow minded to only like athletic females, of course I totally appreciate the effort it takes to have such a body but have had far better experiences with ladies with curves rather than abs. I think it's far easier for a woman to look sexy than a man so I think men have to resort to keeping as fit as they can to help attract attention, it would be a shame if others were put off. |

I tend to agree. I personelly dont judge on looks etc as find it uncomfertable as people are people and you cant help how you look in life. If someone is a genuine person and not a timewaster that means so much more to me. Some of the ugliest as you would say folk have been the most decent non timewasters you could ever meet whereas the steriod types and beauty queens have been not very nice people and not very genuine. Just my experience. |

If someone was looking for athletic then I wouldn't contact them. If they describe themselves as athletic though it wouldn't put me off as people aren't only attracted to those with the same body type as them. |

I don’t really get the athletic body type, for me it’s more of a person being athletic and there body isn’t really relevant to it. I would probably not message though as I’d assume if they wanted athletic they mean more ripped and I’m slim |

A few times for me it has done, especially if I've read the profile and it doesn't mention what type of person they are attracted too, then when I've looked at the photos and they are really fit and in shape and look bloody amazing.
I have thought to myself they won't be interested in someone like me so havent bothered to contact them.
That could come across as shallow on my part, but I think its more to do with me lacking confidence to go for it and looking stupid in the long run. |

Curvy is a body shape not a weight: since we?? are slim and average we love athletic and check out CURVY descriptions in profiles to see if they are really just little hobbies!!

I've put athletic as I'm fit for my sport and train for hours daily ... but definitely no six pack or ripped muscles here nor am I a gym bunny (no need for the gym!)
But like lots of descriptions on here all very subjective. A lot of athletic people aren't, a lot of slim people aren't, a lot of curvy people aren't etc how we all view shapes and sizes and fitness is personal to ourselves. If describing myself as athletic has put people off from messaging me then that says more about them than me ... I'm not the one doing the judging! And its intelligence, integrity and good humour I find attractive over personal descriptions and only find those attributes through actually chatting |

Fab descriptions are all very wide and subjective. The bottom line is, display clear photos of both partners (bodies) and people can make their own assessment as to whether they find your shape attractive without throwing a label at it. |

I have a 42" chest and while I may like to tone up more (I just can't be bothered with gyms and weights etc) I certainly wouldn't say I'm over weight. My body is the way it as thanks to likeing food way to much but also enjoying running, cycling, hill walking, climbing etc.
I also disagree with the poster above about needing to bulk up. Heavily muscled doesn't have a category on fab but it isn't (in my opinion) athletic. That said, given the options I understand why the gym bunnies use it.

And therein lies one of the issues... One person may believe an athletic body means someone who takes part in a sport... Eg...rugby prop or a gymnast... Or a marathon runner. We have the same with curvy which is a shape not a type... To mean mostly overweight or fabulous which can mean anything to anybody.

I chose athletic for my profile simply because I've called myself average all my life and decided it was time to up my game.
I don't go to the gym and couldn't run the length of myself but keep fit and healthy by hillwalking.
If anything I'm underweight for my height and build but that option wasn't available.

Interesting topic as I always wondered if some of my pics can put women and couples off only because I love training and trying to live healthy life and look after myself. I love women ...with lean body but also curves are hot. Heard many times how my body is too lean or women don’t like 6pack. Personal preference I guess

I’ve recently made a feature submission to hopefully help forum members with this somewhat - essentially a bunch of filters which allow each user to only receive search results that take their preferences as regards physical attributes of potential partners into account.
Having read a TONNE of profiles in the few weeks I’ve joined, I’ve realised that a lot of the frustration I detect in the profiles of my preference (women) stems from them effectively having to spend hours filtering and writing and re-writing their profile to communicate EXACTLY what kinda man they’re looking for.
It makes them sound negative when they’re absolutely not, and doesn’t allow them to express their characters as much as they could (if they were only ever shown results that factor in the attributes they prefer).
There will always be liars but then they deserve to get InstaBanned™? from Fab; maybe an instant account cool-down that increases by say, a week for every time they’re accused of misrepresentation haha - I dunno!
I’m also just a fat dude who probably sees the value in having an efficient way to increase my visibility to the women who ARE looking for their very own Michelin man |

I generally look for athletic/average - but would never rule out someone who wasn’t. Unless a profile specified their preference for the same I don’t think you should assume that’s what athletic physiques want

Doesn't put me off at all.
As for what defines athletic everyone has their own view.
I put myself down as this. 18 stone, bodyfat around 18-20%, it's very obvious I lift yet I've been called a fat bastard and should change my profile to average or overweight because I dont have rock hard abs. |
