First wasp in the house

I'd rather have wasps than the insane amount of mosquitoes I have from living with the canal in my back garden, at least wasps barely ever sting yet every fucking little mozzie bastard wants to drink my blood!!! |

Had my first yesterday. She was a big beautiful lady at nearly 2" and I heard her knocking on the front door trying to get out. It took a while to get her out, but a bit of gentle persuasion did the trick. Only thing is, I can't work out how she got in. |

Yep, the bad angry stripey pennies don't go away: one tried to come through the window yesterday. Waiting for a load of them to try and make a nest in my loft! |

"I have a nest in my garden
Wasp nests are beautiful.
Yes xx that's why I don't mind
Windows closed though x"
I had one under the lean to a couple of feet from my back door. Watching it's creation was amazing, but by the time it got to football size the children were afraid for their lives. We had to get rid of it |

"The stripey twats are back! "
Came home from work the other morning to find a big buzzing bee going berserk in my kitchen. I was slightly puzzled as that night had been gale forced winds and rain. Yesterday the same thing happened. Crapping myself now in case there is a nest somewhere. |

I like wasps ... in a purely “they’re great for the garden” type way. I was sad last year when I had to get a chap in to destroy a nest. It was right outside my daughters window and she didn’t see the beauty in it

I had three wasps in my bathroom earlier within the space of an hour. Despite being scared of them i warily went in and opened the window, the first two flew straight out but the last one chased me round the room for five minutes before it left. |

Do you have a fireplace?
I had wasps coming down the chimney in the summer couple of years in a row. Freaked out thinking I had a nest but no. Got the chimney sweep out (who was camp as fuck and loving the drama but shitting himself at the same time) and no nest but they kept coming. I think it was the same couple, i'd let them out the window and they went up to the roof and came back down again. Bizzare |

I did close the window straight after they flew out......just don't know how they're getting in. |

I used to feel the same about wasps as most others on here. Until I understood their purpose.
They are ESSENTIAL. They keep blackfly, aphids, greenfly and all sorts off the crops and various vegetables.
I couldn't work out where in the food chain they were, and were just a pain in the arse!
I think differently now. |

Our daughter came through about 6.30 this morning, absolutely petrified that someone was in her room. Turns out a queen bee had got stuck in the room and spent the night on the windowsill and was clamouring to get out! Poor kid, she calmed down when she realised it was only a bee. |

They belong in the woods and fields...not our gardens stinging our children and pets
