super slow motion, some funky rotating angle thing on the gymnastics at the moment etc
i just wish they would use them a little less. its almost like they ot given a new toy and want to use it at every available opportunity!! |

it is true... it is OBS (Olympic Broadcasting Services) and NHK-TV in japan, who have lent them the special camera's for the coverage.... its on of those nerdy things I know....  |

for the technically minded - a Japanese co provides the cameras and audio - broadcasters take feeds of this into their own production areas - here they can cut to other cameras or add slo-mo effects plus their momentary the d not have any control over where any particular camera is pointing though

All the super slow replays are done for those that are lucky to watch in HD. It is all being filmed in HD - and the idea is that those watching can look in amazement at how clear the picture is. |

Try going back to watching non HD - you should see a big difference - the picture will be more grainy |
