With all the middle-aged, unattached career women we have nowadays, why are there so few house husbands and so many derelict men?
Men, in my opinion, make far better housewives than most women when there are no kids to look after. We can do all the same things but also build and fix big, heavy stuff, and tend to spend our free time doing useful things instead of shopping and socialising.
Why don't modern women want to keep a hardworking, loyal, loving house husband in the way that men used to keep their wives?
I'm not saying it's right or wrong, just interested |

Plenty do.
Loads of guys take on the role of "homemaker" whilst their partner goes out to work.
I think people generally tend to do what suits them these days rather than follow traditional gender roles tbh.

I know a house husband who used to sit on his arse all day, smoking and watching television.
She got him a job which lasted a few months before he declared it wasn't worth his time working to pay his travel, lunch and cigarettes.
He didn't do any cooking or childcare. |

Sad but unfortunately the case for a arc load. |

My ex did fuck all in my house or garden. I changed the car battery. I unblocked toilets and sinks. I changed all the plugs and light bulbs. He used to get other people in to do diy that I couldn't do.
You may be a God of house husband's but a lot of men are not.

I (Mrs KC) earn the lion's share, have more work responsibility and do more overtime. I also have physical issues. Mr KC does pretty much all the housework, cooking and gardening. Our son helped before he left home and our daughter is only 4 so can't do much. Childcare is broadly shared fairly equally e.g. he does morning nursery run, I do evening but we don't sit tallying what the other does. We just live our lives in pretty constant harmony. As Lorna says, it's called teamwork. |

I know a few people who used that trick to hide the fact they'd done fuck all apart from speak to people who weren't their partner. Make it smell like they'd been hard at work to trick the senses into believing it. Bin bag by the front door ready to go out. Air freshener or bleach freshly squeezed, laundry at the bottom of the stairs waiting to go up.
All done minutes before their spouse gets home.
Ooooo, haven't you been busy! |

I think men are as capable of looking after children as women.
We've had periods in our life when I've worked and Mr N hasn't and vice versa. Nobody was "keeping" anybody though. |

When there are no kids to look after.
Men get testerical. They should let the women sort the house out and concentrate on smiling more and having pretty man clothes.

Totally agree with those saying teamwork is the key, but I'm talking more about 45+ women who concentrated on their careers just a little too long.
They'll never have kids, but they still have maternal instincts. Given some of the low opinions shown against men here, they should love having overgrown children to look after and look down on? |

For those saying men will only cheat their days away, well, I can only submit to your wisdom on that one. I know very few men who cheated on their partners after their mid-20s, but I don't have access to your personal experiences.
Are they really that bad? |

To my knowledge, my husband has not cheated on me and I have no reason to doubt him. We've been together since sixth form so I have no real adult experience prior to comment on either. |

But aren't kids cute sometimes? I wouldn't put a picture drawn by a middle aged man on my fridge. |

Both genders. This is not, and I’m not suggesting you’re saying it is, a male preserve. Women are as susceptible to this behaviour as men. |

Just type in cheating in the forum search bar, thread upon thread about it, many that flaunt it. |

That's why I specifically used 'people' rather than men. Defo not a one gender party trick |

It's better to swallow, or so I'm told
My kid draws people as kinda oval shapes with arms and legs that stick out of the oval, with massive ears and everyone has curly hair, despite none of us having curly hair. Definitely not trading that for no man-art |

I will take a look, but I have to say this is all flying in the face of my understanding of cheating. The internet repeatedly tells me women are cheating far, far more than men...
I mean, just look at fab. Seems like it's 50:1 male to female, who are the ones doing the actual cheating?
Maybe a better solution, which has been done many times before for women (another reason some of you are on here), is for the rich wife to just employ a cleaner and allow her toyboy hubby his own toyboy lover?
Or... you know... just both come on fab as a couple? |

Awww curly hair sounds friendly to me, he/she/it will turn out nice
Men would unironically draw tits. Then just stop and look at them and forget what they were doing... |

huh? the ratio is 50:1 men to women so there must be more women cheating? how does that work ?
women should get cleaners and get their man a toy boy lover? what underpins that logic?
i really dont understand this post
also chances are if a woman in her 40s is career minded and childfree she probably didnt just go too long and forget to have babies so no its highly unlikely she wants to foster a man child to fill that void |

Know plenty of men and women whose partners work yet they do fuck all at home or vice versa. I do think if one person is being the homemaker they need to do it properly!!
I don’t think either males or females do it better. |

Why only when there's no kids to look after? My mum earnt significantly more than my dad so when she went back to work, he stayed at home with us. There werw a few, shall we say catastrophes but otherwise he did a cracking job and he says now they were the best years of his life . |

Mm hmm. Women don't do "the heavy stuff"...
Good dose of sexism right there.
I'm more likely to do DIY, dug up our entire garden, cut up and took our old shed to the skip. I'm no stranger to hard graft.
Mr Racer does car stuff, cos that's his strength.
Like KC said, it's a team, you work to your strengths and help each other where you can.
And here's me thinking we'd put all this bull shit behind us...

"I would be a great house husband.
All housework done by 10:30am. Spend the rest of the day watching loose women....
What’s hard about that? "
This is the problem I have with my partner. He thinks he does most of the housework because he thinks you can clean the whole place in an hour. It takes me that long just to do a proper clean of the bathroom but he sees it as him doing the whole flat and me "just doing one room". Also most of his cleaning is him picking up the shite he leaves everywhere! |
