"Do you have a favourite album cover....I will go for The Clash London Calling...."
I absolutely love the Clash. But with a graphic design degree the album cover is all kinds of wrong to me. It’s just a photo with wording in terribly chosen colours |

The type and colours are a tribute to Elvis' first album which used exactly the same ones. |

I could easily list a hundred album covers that I love but the one that immediately jumps out for me is Blonde On Blonde by Bob Dylan. It's got an effortless cool about it that encapsulates the artist, the music within and a moment in time perfectly. And being rock's first double album meant you also got the full folded out image as well which only adds to the magnificence. |

"Dark side of the moon - Pink Floyd
Unmistakable and simple yet effective
Animals, with the pig over Battersea Power Station is a good one, as is Wish You Were Here, with the man on fire "
All great classics |

There and to the left a bit |
There are loads from iconic poses or artwork to ones that you just notice something different each time you see it - think covers have lost their impact since the rise of compact discs and even more so now downloads and streaming are the major source, which personally I think is a real shame.
The album cover (front and back) along with the inner sleeve used to be as much part of the pleasure of a new album as the music - I used to spend ages devouring the covers, the sleeve notes and more- nowadays it's rare that I'll even look at the little booklet that comes with a CD |

"Any of the Smiths album or single covers. Even if Morrissey is a complete thundercunt, these days "
And with that we will also say any Gene album covers or singles. Lol
There are so many examples of amazing album artwork.
Deloused In The Comatorium - The Mars Volta
Sunset Mission - Bohren Und Der Club Of Gore
Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs - Bowie
Never, Never Land - U.N.K.L.E
The Disintegration Loops - William Basinski |

I remember wanking over a Three Degrees album when I was a teenager
The cover opened out and inside there was a pic of them in see through bodysuits
The mere suggested sight of a bit of tit & fanny was enough to get the hormones raging in those days |

I’ve always liked the Yes album covers. I saw an exhibition in Brighton once and the original paintings are like 10feet by 20feet - really huge.
An album cover I was always fascinated by as a younger person was one by Black Sabbath and it had devil like creatures on a bed. |

Maiden and Yes have been mentioned previously. I’ll also add Volbeat who have some great covers, plus the inside of the gatefold is illustrated as well. |
