Have any of you bought one of the cheap solar powered fountains you can put in bird baths, they cost around £10 to £20. If so are they any good?

Please don't post links

I bought one for 99p that throws 100 gallons per second 400 feet into the air even on a cloudy day.

Yes, make sure you keep the panel and pump clean, algae will stall it if it gets In and a cloud is enough to stop it working

, we've got solar powered lights that work well. They don't save much money but its a whole lot easier than all those wires etc

Yes I have, also bought a beautiful antique wash bowl to put it in but....

It has to be in full sun to work, if there is shade over the bowl of water it will stop. You need to keep it topped up as it sprinkles water around the area

I ended up put rocks in the bowl to keep the fountain in the centre. I take it out when I’m not in the garden to see it

I may invest in a proper solar panel fountain for the bowl

I remember seeing him on a panel show with one of those hip young presenters who finds humiliating people amusing. He handled it with dignity and the presenter looked like a fool

I got the largest panel I can find about a foot square from China you won’t find on Amazon eBay etc then fit it on a wall or away from the water . Mines so powerful it pumps the water up 2 feet to create a waterfall without an electric pump

A swinging version?

Down the waterslide and land straight in the jacuzzi

The jacuzzi, of course, will be cleverly disguised amongst the pampas grass

We have one, a cheap one off amazon, it's in a big container of water, i love it, it looks pretty and sounds lovely. It caused a lot of discussion with our neighbours, they love it too.

We learnt we needed to find a way to keep it in the middle otherwise it pumps all the water out over the patio, much to our grandchilds delight they like to experiment with it, put things on top to see what happens ... it stops working, take it out of the water and put it on the patio ... it just keeps making a whirring sound

This was really cheap, less than £15. I can imagine keeping it in the middle might be difficult I think I'll get a long stick and prod it

Mine was about £5, i thought it would be coming from China and I'd have a long wait but it arrived really quickly !

It does have suckers on it which can go on the bottom of the container but it's to deep. We have big stones around the edge to keep it in the middle

Tip for solar powered stuff, is to replace the batteries, as they're typically lower quality and capacity than ones you'd normally buy.

I worked on Derby City Council House when it was being being refurbished about 11 years ago, all the roof tiles were taken off and replaced, with new insulation, fair enough

Nobody thought to stick some Solar Panels up there though, we've got a waterfall that hasn't worked for years

God bless Derby City Council and all they stand for
