Anyone else feel like they’ve been locked away and hidden from the world and society for so long now, that when we are allowed back out, people will have mental problems socialising and meeting people again ? I know I feel like it’s affected my mental health anyone else feel the same. I don’t think I will even know how to approach a woman haha

I was just explaining that to friends earlier. I had a proper anxious meltdown over it last night. I feel like I’ve spent the last few months in a bubble and i know it’s going to pop.

I’m usually very active and social, out and about, but I literally feel like I’ve lost all social skills. Weird. I know it isn’t only me feeling this way.

It's very normal and coming up in my community work. You're not alone.

Be kind to yourself.

it definitely not just you, i met a friend for a walk for the first time since christmas last week and then for the rest of the weekend i was both exhausted and unable to sleep

im normally so sociable, the life and soul of the party and now i really don’t know how long its going to take me to adjust to just having people around me let alone a social event

strangely this never impacted me at all last year despite going month without seeing anyone or going outside in the first lockdown , this one just seems to have hit me harder

The nearest I get to human interaction is when I get asked if I’ve got my Nectar card and I always forget, oh how we laugh.

Yes! Although I've always been like this if i spend too much time on my own. Takes me a while to remember how to socialise, or to even want to socialise. I always get there in the end though.

I definitely have newbie trust issues, too many instant gratification seekers and the thought that he's going to use me just for a vag to dip his wick in will take a long time to shake off

You're not my demographic (ha) and it's in a voluntary capacity, but yes.

Do keep pushing through, but build up gradually. Talk to people about it, meet those who'll support you if you can. Have faith that it'll get better. Also tools on depression and anxiety will help too, there's a lot of overlap.

In all honesty no. I'm desperate to get out and about again and spending 4hrs jabbing the public today, working with other volunteers and med professionals was WONDERFUL. The time flew by and I wasn't ready to leave when my relief arrived

I've always had social anxiety, and gave worked so hard to fight avoidant behaviour, but it's been enforced so much this year. I had a big panic attack in my local shop yesterday because I foolishly went in during the school run and it was heaving in there.

I think I’ll find it super strange when we are allowed places with no social distancing etc... I’ve spent the last year trying to allow people space and constantly measuring this invisible line between myself and others. I think so many people will get social anxiety and suffer with the thought. I’m sure it’s not the best way to deal with it, but I will 100% throw myself in the deep end and force myself into ‘normality’ when appropriate to do so. Already started planning things to ensure I make myself. Plans to see friends and weekends away where I will be doing fun stuff with people I like and go through it together. I ain’t being crippled by this.
