I know it sounds boring, but seaside fish & chips

The trouble with fish & chips is that it doesn't travel well

It needs to be eaten hot and straight from the range

Once it's sweated a bit in the back of a 15 year old Yaris, it loses it's je ne sais quoi

Yes - I need to have that in my life immediately

But just a couple of chips so I've got some room for those really wrong but right fresh seaside doughnuts (drool)

I had pie, mash & liquor on Monday.

I might make it a permanent Monday thing.

I live it drenched in malt vinegar and ground white pepper.

No liquor isn't pea juice. That's some weird northern thing called pea wet.

Liquor is parsley sauce. It used to be made from eel cooking juice mut just water now.

You should come down South and do a pie crawl

It’s parsley sauce, not pea juice. Made with butter, plain flour, stock (*), parsley and salt & pepper

(*) traditionally it was made with the water left over from stewing the eels.

I think it was, the bloody eels are horrible but liquor wasn't. Anyone remember Kosovs bakery on Eldon street, responsible for half the heart attacks in the city probably

I'm from South Africa and you're all Northerners to me..... And none of you would know a real bloody sausage if I slapped you in the face with it.

You haven't lived until you've tried Boerewors on the Braai with Pap and Sheba! (A thick coil of Farmers beef and bacon fat sausage seasoned with coriander and a touch of malt vinegar. Grilled slowly over a bed of fragrant hardwood coals and served with traditional African maize porridge and lashings of thick chunky tomato and onion sauce)

My granny made the best pies ever and to be honest so did yours. When you are a little lad growing up and your dad (who's your hero) says he loves pies then you are stuck for life on pies
