I’m Scottish. I have Scottish blood coursing through my veins. I see Scotland on a map and I melt, I hear the word Scotland and I cry, I sit over our view of an ocean and I look up and I look out and I blub up. I see a landscape painted in honour of our great country and I fold. I walk from my house in central Edinburgh in to the centre of our capital city’s town.. I see the castle and I believe.

Scotland will be Independent and thrive.

I won’t look back.

England.... England?

You walk from spoons to the ditch and watch someone spew up.

End discussion.

we are mark’d to die, we are enow

To do our country loss; and if to live,

The fewer men, the greater share of honour.

God’s will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.

By Jove, I am not covetous for gold,

Nor care I who doth feed upon my cost;

It yearns me not if men my garments wear;

Such outward things dwell not in my desires:

But if it be a sin to covet honour,

I am the most offending soul alive.

No, faith, my coz, wish not a man from England:

God’s peace! I would not lose so great an honour

As one man more, methinks, would share from me

For the best hope I have. O, do not wish one more!

Rather proclaim it, Westmoreland, through my host,

That he which hath no stomach to this fight,

Let him depart; his passport shall be made

And crowns for convoy put into his purse:

We would not die in that man’s company

That fears his fellowship to die with us.

This day is called the feast of Crispian:

He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,

Will stand a tip-toe when the day is named,

And rouse him at the name of Crispian.

He that shall live this day, and see old age,

Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbours,

And say ‘To-morrow is Saint Crispian:’

Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars.

And say ‘These wounds I had on Crispin’s day.’

Old men forget: yet all shall be forgot,

But he’ll remember with advantages

What feats he did that day: then shall our names.

Familiar in his mouth as household words

Harry the king, Bedford and Exeter,

Warwick and Talbot, Salisbury and Gloucester,

Be in their flowing cups freshly remember’d.

This story shall the good man teach his son;

And Crispin Crispian shall ne’er go by,

From this day to the ending of the world,

But we in it shall be remember’d;

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;

For he to-day that sheds his blood with me

Shall be my brother; be he ne’er so vile,

This day shall gentle his condition:

And gentlemen in England now a-bed

Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,

And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks

That fought with us upon Saint Crispin’s day.

Portsmouth

In my years of studying History I can't think of a single instance where extreme Nationalism and nationalist politics has ever benefited a people or a country or its peoples in the long run.

Yes Edinburgh is probably my favourite city in the world and I deeply and truly love Scotland and the Scottish people having lived there for a few years.

However you only have to look at the complete and utter fuck up that is Brexit, to see where this type of Nationalism and Isolationism can lead a nation....

If you're going to take a decision this monumental, then dinna do it with your heart mon! Use your head! listen to the facts, view the expert opinions, and economic forecasts dispassionately, weighing their analysis and data against their most likely motivations. And base your decision on empirical evidence, not national pride and warm fuzzy feelings.

I'm English. I like Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Whatever the politics we will always be neighbours and usually be friends. Its those sneaky fuckers on The Isle of Man I worry about.

Good for you! Scotland should be independent if they want it. As all nations should be. Just a shame your national anthem is in English, even if my partner loves how much of a ‘fuck you’ to the English it is (he’s welsh).

Fuck that! Far too sensible and reasonable for this discussion. Better the devil you know I say, I am happy for the Scots to pop down to Westminster and mix things up, negotiate, demand, expect and often to lead. The freedom on offer by wee Nicola is the loss of identity, the loss of our currency and handing over our sovereignty from Westminster to France and Germany. If there truly was freedom, autonomy and wealth guaranteed by leaving the UK then I would be perfectly happy to do so. Out of the frying pan and into the fire does not seem like any advantage worth the effort.

Wow ego and yeah I was born in Britain but I don’t have British blood through me and before you even say my family line has been in Britain since the 9th century after they came from Norway. I’m Nordic but I have the sense of honour to see how stupid division is I agree that if Scotland wants independence away from the cancerous British government then go for it. But I understand the post is a wind up and putting forward your “persona”.
