"awww looks like i hit a nerve lol
Yeah it's a fluffy forum at times.
But it's legal to keep them for eating, I think?
"
No different to keeping chickens etc.
But obviously chickens aren't as cute.
Wild ones taste better though. |

Animals serve different purposes in different contexts. But we should respect all of them rather than try to upset people, I think.
Yes, people eat and wear rabbit. Deliberately conflating that with pet rabbits is designed to be inflammatory. |

Many years ago I sold a refrigerated van to a smallholder who bred rabbits on an industrial scale, the van was for delivering the slaughtered and prepared rabbits to butchers shops around his local area.
To this day the local butcher I use still sells rabbit meat. Ideal for pies and casseroles apparently. |

I prefer wild holes to farmed ones.
Does the OP have enough batteries for that amount of sex toys ? |

I used to love rabbit stew.
I've taken off the feet and the head and gutted fresh kill....
We used to ask the butcher for rabbits feet.
I've been vegan for about 4 years now. How times change.

The national dish of Malta is rabbit stew. It is very nice. If you ever go you will also find horse meat on some menu's. The Mrs drew the line at that as she owns two horses!!!!! |

When we were kids my dad had chickens and rabbits for the table. We had one or the other on Sunday. I was born in 1956, my parents had lived through WW2 growing and rearing your own food was a necessity.
I wouldn't buy livestock for the table from a pet shop though, it wouldn't make for decent eating and would be a very expensive way of doing it |

"You joke about that, but a mates dad did just this as the kids never looked after it. He gave them rabbit stew for tea as well."
seems to be a theme here in stories of pet rabbits that were killed and possibly fed to the family
my rabbit bit someone through a vein in her hand while we were on holiday so my dad said he couldnt have it around the kids. at the time he told me he set it free but in a post divorce argument my mum let the truth out |

"My dad killed my pet chickens and we had them with roast potatoes, carrots and broccoli. They were delicious.
We also had fresh eggs! Win win - unless you’re a chicken. "
Reminds me of my time growing up in Ghana, all our meats were freshly prepared. No frozen stuff! |

This forum debate reflects a very strange relationship with food many of us Brits have. Unless it's a chicken breast in a packet most won't cook it and are happy to discard the rest of the animal. We regularly eat venison, rabbit, duck, goat, offal etc. We used to keep chickens too.
By the way Rick Stein has a wonderful Rabbit with Agen prunes recipe! |

I don't know if anyone's aware but rabbit is a national dish in Malta? And no, I didn't try it when I was last there!"
I did and it was really tasty. To get the kids to eat it they called it underground chicken. They make an excellent rabbit ragu as well. |

I love offal too. Quite often me and my dad will share some stuffed hearts when his wife isn't in (obviously not this year). Love kidneys on toast, trotters, liver etc. Not squeamish about heads on things etc. |

People in western countries and cultures eat rabbit, ostrich, deer, horse, crocodile, goat, frogs, snails... I've never eaten any of that and I don't think I could
I've not eaten dog or shark either and I grew up in both Western and Eastern cultures.
Just find it interesting what people are okay with and what they aren't. |

In the past year I've eaten all of those. I like horse the best, it's like beef but much leaner.
A few years ago I had squirrel, not impressed with it hardly any meat on it. |

I ate tinned horse when I was out in Mongolia.
As a dining experience it left a lot to be desired. Especially when washed down with fermented yaks milk... |
