Have ppl noticed more and more old threads being revived?

Second to last comment 51 weeks ago, last comment 3 minutes ago.....

Why does it happen?

How does it happen?

How long are threads kept for?

shits creek

I did notice.

I think some is people doing a forum search using keywords. Nobody can blame those ones as peeps are often advised to do a forum search instead of starting a new thread that may have been done to death.

I think the others might be returning fabsters bumping their old stuff

Den of Iniquity

Yes I've noticed it too .

I know how it happens , but some of the resurrection are admittedly bizarre.

But it's no biggie, perfectly allowable

Barnhill (Outside Dundee)

Forum threads also archived by month

I have on occasion gone rummaging in old stuff for specific people whose writing I enjoy and admire. I don't post comments publicly for the very reason you mention, I reply privately to the individual

Not necessarily. Someone posting a message would. Makes the "latest activity" reset to recent

Hence why if I want to compliment a months old post I use "reply privately"

Tbh I sometimes do it. If I want to make a thread I’ll search to see if it’s been discussed before and sometimes comment or just read through the replies to what I was going to ask...

Well I did a key board search on a old thread I did 4 years ago and it's still there.

Half the people are gone but it was funny to read again.

Right terminology for it is called necroing for short

Or necromancy for long to rase the dead

It was changed by the masses to bump

In the old school laws off forums it’s fround appon to rase a thread from the dead

As servers only had so much memory banks once a post got so old it would be permanent delete from the server all to gether

This, and I'd find it annoying if someone replied to something I'd said that long ago. Do you want to get back into it?

If it's a fun, harmless topic then it doesn't really matter but I wouldn't want reignite a hot topic, seems unfair to the people who had been involved.

It’s one forum users favorite thing to do to pass the time which just clogs up the forum.
