I was in war 3 years...wounded twice in close combat...but I've never been in this kind of situation...until last few weeks...

Sorry to hear that

the start of the first Lockdown was the worst for me. I suffer with anxiety too and I don't think that helps. I've got sleeping tablets for when I'm really desperate for a decent night's kip. Thankfully I'm not so bad lately

I have found that background noise can help.

I use rain on a tent. There are 4hr videos on YouTube. When I was in hospital I couldn't sleep cos of the noise I found it helpful

I agree, I use Alexa to play thunderstorms and that can help

I've also recently discovered heated eye masks, they are really relaxing after a long shift and help me Drift off.

always, get a few hours here and there if I'm lucky.. but generally just cat naps in between nightmares and racing minds.

moreso recently since the death of my friend, my MH decline, and a whole heap of other crap.

i wish i had recommendations for you OP.. But as yet I haven't found anything that works.

I hope it gets better for you.

The last few days have been terrible. No idea why.

Even the meditation isn't helping

I have in the past. Thankfully I don’t have sleep problems, these days, and I put that down to establishing a bedtime routine, and using my bedroom for nothing but sleeping. I found that lying in bed and watching TV would really cause me problems, because your brain associates being in bed with doing something interesting or exciting, and so, it doesn’t know how to switch off. If you have a bedtime routine that you stick to every night, your brain associates the routine with slowing down and getting ready to switch off.

I also found that playing ambient or drone music, or white noise, can be really helpful, as well as wearing foam ear plugs to drown out any external disturbances.

Good sleep albums:

Sleep by Max Richter (8 hours long - the Dream tracks are the most patterned drone heavy tracks)

Any album by The Caretaker (that isn’t the name of the album, I literally mean any album)

The Disintegration Loops by William Basinski (HEAVY drone. Perfect for sleeping)

Konoyo by Tim Hecker (ambient and pretty)
