just watching the big match revisited on ITV4 and cant believe the stat of the pitch at Old Trafford back in the seventies.

todays players wouldnt set foot on it, it was like a paddock !!!

Derby County's Baseball Ground was a mud bath in August and got worse as the winter set in....

I must admit I was watching some old Liverpool games from the 70's a few weeks back and while my first memory of Anfield back in April 1971 was a wonderful green pitch, the truth is it was mud with blades of grass scattered around the place for the games i was watching on TV from January/February of the 1977 season
