.

It’s been a crazy year with everything that’s gone on, lockdowns people loosing loved ones no holidays concerts or even a pint down the pub with mates.

But what are your positives out of the year ?

For me, Finally getting closer to selling my house.

Made more money this year then I ever have.

During lockdown I realised I loved someone and we will be moving in together as soon as we find a home.

I left my husband, moved from the south coast up to Yorkshire to be closer to my family and found out who my true friends were and made some new ones too

Not shit but not exceptional either to be honest.

I turned 40.

i helped friends get married and then say goodby to each other.

I worked the whole way through.

I managed to save over 4k (although 2 of that is earmarked for a cruise)

My dad thankfully got out of intensive care and hospital just before the first lockdown (not covid related and after not being able to walk more than 4 steps without feeling exhausted he completed a 100 mile month in February and raised over £1000 for the hospital he was in (ok, not captain Tim levels but I'm very proud of him)

My friends. I love them more than they could ever know.

The other positive as heartbreaking and brutal as it was, ending my relationship. I don't do lies or cheating and I'd have failed myself and everyone else if I'd have continued with someone who didn't have the same moral code.

Manchester (he/him)

I spent time working on my relationship, then moved house and got engaged.

I’ve got a better job with better hours and more pay.

I bought a car.

It’s hard to say it and amidst all of the awful things going on and with the ongoing health issues but this past year has been far better than the past few

Tea! You bought a car and you've got a better job! This is excellent news to read, I'm happy for you.

Yarp!

The commute to my last job would’ve been quite difficult without one

Saved a lot of money and knocked a few years off the mortgage. My dream house is ever closer finally.

Reconnected with some wonderful people.

Didn't cry when a cyclist went into the rear of my car.

I wrote a couple of things for a friend that were very well received after years of doubting I could - I'm hoping it's going to be top in the thing that I'm vaguely discussing.

I rediscovered my curls after years of thinking Western hair was the only desirable one (and professional thanks to a crap manager).

I kept my job and I wasn't furloughed. Incredibly grateful for that.

Although I lost my job I've been able to save more. Be more in communication with my family.

And get my flat a good/bad DIY job

I've lost friends.

Gained friends.

Stayed busy with work.

Seen people die, seen what this virus does to people.

The human spirit remains.

We battle on and will get through to win.

May take longer than anyone wishes but we will continue to exist on this planet

miles away to be with said man and start a new life

My business has gone bonkers.

Picked up a massive amount of work with covid affecting bigger businesses mine has flourished. Actually at the point where I'm turning work away now.

Me and C would never have met if it wasn’t for Covid...I wouldn’t have re-joined FAB and she wouldn’t have been looking for any one new.

Covid changed both our lives unexpectedly and I couldn’t be happier

Liverpool

I became intensely nostalgic and got a lot of pleasure from old TV shows, movies and music.

The downside to that is that I am liable to cry because I find the music of Rick Astley intensely moving

couple, us we him her.

Positives.

Traffic has been great but starting to get busy again.

Clear sky's not seeing pollution machine's cris crossing the sky with pollution laden vapour trails.

Been fortunate enough to have worked throughout but absolutely shattered most of the time.

Lot's of bad stuff happened one being still suffering the after effects of covid almost 6 months on.

Manchester (she/her)

My family are safe, and my relationship with them has improved.

My community work - we've done more than we could have imagined, and it's been hard but so rewarding.

Professional opportunities

Self reflection and self improvement. Not just hobbies, but solidifying what is really important to me.

Glasgow

I lost my 2nd job. I was working too many hours and it turned out to be a blessing

Got to spend more time with the kids not being at school

Got my house finished as I didn't have holidays to pay for

Got to see so many more places in Scotland as we couldn't go to restaurants and pubs

Garden is getting done this year with the money I'll not spend

Can honestly say it's not been as bad as a lot of peoples but I'd have my pre covid life back in a minute. Would happily have my manic life back for holidays and gigs and nights out

The weather was amazing in the first lockdown so lots of outdoor time, got to spend a lot of time with the children, met the neighbours and made new friends (only took 5 years). Bought a pool for the garden and the youngest actually started to learn to swim and now loves his lessons and actually gets in the water alone (for the brief time they were allowed back).

Saved a lot of petrol money and now I finally have a decorated bedroom with new matching furniture, and I'm ordering my new kitchen units tomorrow.

I learned how to build a desk and my son liked it so much I then had to make him one.

Hubby is now working from home permanently.

I joined a local volunteer group and have enjoyed helping vulnerable /shielding/isolating people, as well as the local pharmacy and doctors surgery. That then led to me getting a job which I love.

I've lost 3 stone and got a lot fitter.

Talked to my family more this year than the last 20 years combined lol.

And I turned 40 and found a way to celebrate despite not being able to see my friends in person.

I know this year has been hard for so many people and I am incredibly grateful for all my blessings
