I don't really like Victoria that much... that said, it depends what you like, where you stay etc. For me, it's a bit too noisy/dirty.
That said, it's got good transport links, easy enough to get to most places fairly quickly. Tons of chain restaurants etc, as well as more downmarket fast food.
As for safety - it's as safe as anywhere in London. Check hotel reviews on trip advisor, where people would highlight security concerns. Never flash valuables out in public, but that's good advice for most - if not all - places. |

It's not a ghetto if that is what you mean. But like anywhere in London, late at night if you make it blatent you are a tourist it could be dodgy.
How long are you staying? I stayed round there earlier this year because it was cheaper than staying at Gatwick and convenient but beyond transport links it's not really got much going for it. You'll get food, chain places or pub fayre but you'll get better variety elsewhere in London.
It is well connected on both the underground and with buses though. |

Victoria is safe enough, no real problems for tourists
There are shedloads of small b and b hotels, some are ok some are not great. Check the reviews
A few decent restaurants there including an excellent mangal that I go to often |

I am bias as I used to live near Russell Square, and felt very safe walking home from the West End late at night on my own.
Victoria is ok, however, it is a bit out of the way from West End.
