I have 2 cats, both Bengal/Siamese cross but from different mother/fathers.
They are more like dogs and love being involved in everything and given lots of attention.
One of them always comes into the living room in the evening to tell me to come to bed if it’s after 11pm, rubbing herself against me and talking and then runs ahead of me to sit on the bed. |

If I had a cat/cats I'd prefer them to be dog like in the loving stakes and lap sits. |

You need Ragdoll Cats. They don't know they are cats so they aren't arseholes. Down side is they cost a freaking fortune and are essentially housecats. |

I have a family of 6 Maine Coons. They come for walks with me in the forest, swim in the lake with me and a couple of them jump in the car with me occasionally. But they can still be jerks sometimes One of the traits I love about cats is their complete randomness - they suit how I live my life |

Cats do care though. The other week I was splitting some logs and a large piece flew off and hit me right in the stomach. I went down with the pain and they all came out to sniff my face (checking I was ok) then they hunkered down around me purring loudly. They do this to their kittens to soothe them when they're in distress and they did it for me. |

My cat always used to cuddle up against me when I was low. She was very young then but somehow knew I needed comfort and came over herself. So yes, some cats care. |

Then choose an Asian cat - I have had all sorts of cats since I was 18 but Asian cats are def individuals and very dog like. However neither of my cats will sit on my lap - they will lay next to me or across me if I am in bed but they are not lap cats. |

My two are house cats but one of them will go in the garden for a couple of hours each morning. |

Sorry to hear that. I had brother and sisters and the brother died of cancer at 5 years old. She missed him so much I had to get another cat to keep her company. |

I built a run for mine on back of house, so open dining room window and they can go out and get fresh air when they like. Got ramps and shelves for climbing in it aswell |

My two live in the bedrooms during the day to avoid my little dog - they decided they didn’t want to be her friend . I’m on the ground floor so I leave one of the windows open and they can come and go as they wish, but one of them only likes to go out if I am sitting in the garden. |
