They are reviewing it here.. the original evidence showed that crime actually dropped when the lights went off because the baddies did not like the dark.. they are looking again as regards ladies safety...

There is no complete darkness.. street lights actually stop you seeing..
Turn them off.. your pupils enlarge and you will see so much more.. |

I live in a rural area so know how dark it gets...I need a torch to get home from the pub otherwise I end up stepping in horseshit because I can see fuck all. |

Depending on the area they should stay on for safety.
Not everyone works 9-5 these days and I know I'd prefer light on the streets when I need to be up and out at the arse crack of dawn |

It probably wouldn't make much difference to me as there are usually lots of security lights and lights from houses on when I am out in the dark.
There might be more crashes outside my house though.

Plus road markings are much easier to see with street lighting. There are several roads near me where I almost miss the turning because they're just too dark to see. |

Used to go off in my area some moaned about being too dark and safety.
Personaly I enjoyed them off.
Now we have the new LED lights that stay on all night but seems to be darker between each light. |
