Got tired of chucking out fresh produce due to cooking less (intermittent fasting) and/or being able to pop to the shops less and having buy for the whole week. Have started buying frozen veg over the past few months and I don't get why there's still a stigma over this??
I buy everything apart from salad veg frozen now. It tastes as good as fresh and the quality is the same. It's way cheaper, lasts longer and there's zero produce waste at my house now so I feel way less guilty! Plus I've read some stuff about frozen retaining more vitamins and minerals than fresh.
Does anyone else buy frozen? If not, why not? |

Only some , I don't like frozen carrots they have a spongy texture , cauli and broccoli only for gratins, again I don't like their texture when just steamed or boiled .
Love green beans and peas tho |

I buy frozen Brussels sprouts and frozen diced swede, as I can't cut a fresh swede up.
I don't like frozen broccoli as it goes mushy, so I look for the smallest head I can find.
Carrots and Savoy cabbage keep for a while, and my dogs like a carrot too.

I have frozen peas and green beans, the best I’ve found to tasting like you’ve grown them yourself. You can’t beat a pea fresh out of its pod though. Everything else is fresh and I buy loose and only break off what I need, I’ve been known to put three three florets of cauliflower or broccoli through the till, I get strange looks but I know it won’t go to waste |

I can't speak for starchy veg like carrots, swede, peas etc as I don't eat them and I prefer my broccoli on the mushy side as it absorbs sauces and marinades a lot better.
I use cauliflower for cauli rice and it seems to work really well. Sprouts and cabbage are really nice in stir fries and roasted (sprouts go a little mushy but again not a problem for me). Used frozen mushrooms for the first time today and they were surprisingly pleasant. A tiny bit rubbery but worth not having to use them up within a few days. |

Yes as long as you aren’t opening up a pack or a pre stamped wrapped item to do it. I just break it off the edges |

The only frozen veg i can eat is peas, the rest taste weird, especially broccoli, I’ve tried and I forget then buy frozen again and remember why I don’t buy frozen. |

If I'm making a casserole or stew in ma slow cooker, I always use fresh, the only frozen stuff in ma freezer is peas, sweetcorn, broccoli and cauliflower. As long as you don't over cook it, it's perfectly fine and doesn't turn to mush |

I grow veg so end up freezing quite a bit. Fresh is always better if eaten on its own but if you're putting the veg in a casserole, curry, etc then you hardly notice the difference. |
