Yesterday I decided that I wanted meat, mash and gravy for dinner so headed to Asda on my way home. Wandered around as usual and then headed for the refrigerated reduced aisle to see what bargains they had. As I got there, the assistant was reducing meat etc for about the 3rd or 4th time and as no-one else was there, I had a good rummage around and came away with £48 of meat for a tenner!
For my dinner I had 2 extra special Asda brand Lamb steaks cost £4.08 but I paid 50p with mash, green beans and gravy yummy |

"So early mornings are the time to pick up a bargin....."
I did say this was yesterday after work but I guess if I went now, they might have all the stuff no-one buys left |

I love it when you get food bargains, it feels like such a big achievement and I think the food actually tastes better when you know you've saved money.
My worst experience of buying a bargain though was when I bought this beautifully wrapped and ribboned easter egg which was reduced from £10 to £1. I couldn't wait to eat it and I'd eaten quite a bit before I looked at the box and it stated 'diabetic egg'. About an hour later I was stuck on the loo with bad pains in my tummy. |

The best supermarket bargain I ever had was with Sainsbury
They had a millenium vintage champagne which at £20.00 a bottle was on buy 2 get one free. But in the Sainsburys magazine there was a voucher for £10.00 off the same champagne.
So 6 bottles 120.00
six magazines 6.00 126.00
2 free - £40.00 86.00
6 x 10 voucher 26.00
- 5% for 6 bottles 20.00
so 6 bottles vintage champage for £20 or £3.33 a bottle
And I got 12 in total |

I'm always passing on this tip to people who say they can't afford to eat healthily.
Most supermarkets will reduce meat, fish and fresh fruit and veg at about 6pm.
and a lot of it is farm assured, organic etc. |

"My local Tesco Express has improved their reductions, and - with right timing - you can pick up a lot of stuff for 10-15p. OK, it's not steaks, but still good stuff."
I have noticed that Tesco's isn't that generous at knocking the price down especially at the big ones, express is so much better |
