Work if money was no object
Jump to: Newest in thread
So as a follow on from another post about happiness and money.
If money were no object, say lottery win, great aunt Hilda leaves you a small country estate in the Cotswolds, trust fund, whatever.
Do you still work?
If so do you do the job (or type of job) you so now?
For me (mr) I would stay working and yes in the same types of roles.
For S, yes she would probably stay working but different stuff

For the first couple off years you would find it fun
After that the days start to blend in to one another
Gets quite boring at times
Would I change it properly not
But when I do “work” it is quite stressful so kind off glad I can just take months off at a time |

Define work. For a salary? Maybe, maybe not. I'd follow my interests.
I'd probably study more than I do now, maybe start a business. I don't think I'd want to work for anyone else ever again. |

I would work at something I want to do, instead of have to do.
And that kind of money could do a great deal of good if used properly and I would seek to do that.
Think of all the other people you could help, all
That's what I'd want to do. |

I love psychology but this field drains you. I would maybe work in it part time but would love to be a writer. Even if I my books are pure shite it wouldn’t matter because I’d enjoy it and wouldn’t need them to sell loads as I already have money |

Work - something that provides a user with a product or service. I wouldnt necessarily say it needs to pay a salary as it could be charity or pro bono. But I do thing it needs to produce or provide something for others. Otherwise it's a hobby |

I think I’d buy a plot of land subject to planning permission, to build the best swingers, nudist club possible, working there most nights. Leaving the daylight hours to enjoy the odd round of golf. |

I would absolutely work, and I'd stay in my current field (I'm good at it and I enjoy it).
Instead of working for big commercial entities I'd probably do it on behalf of small local charities though, organisations who wouldn't normally be able to afford me. |

I'd build up a restaurant empire. Be executive chef across all and work for some recognition. |

I'd do my current work but on a voluntary basis for some smaller charities near me full time. It would be nice to be able to give back to the community in that capacity and I'd probably help them make a fuckton of money. |

I've often thought I would buy a smallish house with a huge garden and adopt all the old, sick abandoned animals that don't have much time left and give them some love and comfort before they die.
I would probably have to hire people to help me clean up after them and feed them though.

I wouldn't stay in employment but I'd certainly stay occupied doing musical stuff. I'd happily play the piano for five hours a day as I have in the past. There's lots I could do musically with my time. I'd also like to get properly involved with a charity. Luke |

I'm one of those sad/happy bods that actually loves their jobs. I would buy my company but keep on working. Nicky would give up work within seconds given the chance! M |

I’d work for sure but I don’t think I’d do just one job. I’d work on short projects and then move onto the next. Believe it or not i think about this a lot so I have it planned out.
I’d open an art gallery in Tokyo.
Then I’d work developing a musician and introducing them to all my music contacts and have fun seeing if I could turn them a successful artist.
Then I have plans of opening schools and housing in counties that need it.
And finally back to my home town to be a design teacher.
I’ve really thought about this way too much ha.

I wouldn’t work. I would go and educate myself. Maybe learn some new skills, get qualifications.
Failing all of that I would just set up my own porn studio. |
