more gold expected in mens team pursuit when our world champions & defending olympic champions ride today,no bradley wiggins this year in the team although he has ridden this event for 3 olympics!.
brad not riding as he wanted his family & friends to see him win gold in london but tickets not guaranteed so he decided to ride on the 'free to _iew' road events and won the time trial. |

I genuinely think that Laura Trott, Dani King and and Jo Rowsell are undeniably the best advert for women in sport. Whenever you see them they are clearly having so much fun. |

So every GB track rider has set a world record and all of them apart from poor Jess Varnish returning home with at least one gold medal.
For the women pursuiters to have set a world record at every stage is unprecedented in any sport or discipline as is the statistic of 6 consecutive world records.

Well - Jake just said if you've got a bike and a helmet - go out for a ride now!
Damn! I've only got the helmet!
Seriously though - the girls done good! Would certainly like to congratulate Laura Trott personally! |

"she said on tv she lives a short ride from the velodrome to lord coe???"
My mistake - I thought you meant local to you. Her family are all in the Welwyn Wheelers but sure they're not East London/
Can;t wait to see her in the elimination race, there's the way every text book says to ride it and then the crazy and entertaining way she rides it! |

Crashes are part and parcel of the sport and unlike other sports we get back up and finish. And it hurts hitting the deck at those speeds.

"Is the velodrome broken? I've just switched on and they are examining the track.
Now the two riding and doing the stuff I don't understand."
Beacuse the track is wooden it can splinter, older tracks are full of patches and filler. Google image "Awang splinter" to see what can happen.
The sprint is one on one with winner goes through. They go slow as neither want to be on the front. |

Thanks... I couldn't work out why it was called the sprint and they keep going really slowly staring at each other. |

To be honest BBC are assuming that people know what is going on and not really explaining the racing. Everyone says that about them going slow so you'd think the commentators would mention it. It's actually extremely difficult to ride round the banking that slow, even more so when the rider on the front is constantly looking back. Mind you, if you think that the go slow is odd to watch, until they changed the rules a few years back you could balance perfectly still to try and force the other rider to take the front. So you'd have the ridiculous situation of a "sprint" with the 2 competitors stationary for minutes, if not hours. |

I hope Bauge loses - he shouldn't be there. End of.
And that women's points race was embarrassing, although it picked up in the second half I've seen more exciting warm up at my local track league |
